Title: Intergeo 2017 Berlin // feature request => cylindrical projection plane
Post by: toxicmag on October 11, 2017, 05:07:44 PM
Dear Photoscan-Team,

this feature already was discussed here in the past and in Berlin i talked to you about the possibility to:

# have an orthomosaic projected not just on plain structure, but also on bounded ones (i.e. a chimney)
# cylindrical would be nice, even godlike it would be to define a free plane in space

Thanks for your answers and keep up the great work.

For a perfect tool, it would be nice to be able to calculate orthomosaic of developed objects.
Firstly basic geometry (such as cylinders) but finally some complex geometry, which would be define by a 2D polyline (X,Y) and a direction (Z). It would allowed us to easily get developed facades of irregular buildings.

Hello all,

In the latest release version of PhotoScan Pro 1.4.0 you can find Cylindrical projection pane option for the orthomosaic generation.

If you have any questions regarding the settings to be used, please let me know. These details are yet to be included in the documentation.

Hi Alexey !

Thanks for your answer ! I've indeed seen that possibility was implemented.
I'll look at and let you know if something disrupt me !

Dear Photoscan-Users,

i came along a solution to project photos to a surface which can be an irregular or free defined plane.
It uses MatLab and is very academic and uncomfortable, but all formulas, considerations and processing issues are available in a Master Thesis from Technical University Vienna.

Is it possible to see a solution like this being implemented in the orthophoto projection step?
Just like with FARO PointSense Heritage shown here from 2:00Min on     https://youtu.be/RgdA2Un4xrY

Greetings and thanks a lot

Alex

Hi all,

as discussed at the Intergeo 2018 we need a solution to unwrap a cone similar to the cylindrical projection…..

Thanks
Dieter
