Face and Body Scanning / 4D Scanning?
« on: February 13, 2013, 02:22:34 PM »
I'm interested in trying to do 4D scanning with Agisoft.  Can anyone who has done it (or knows how to do it) explain to me what is required and provide me with step-by-step by instructions regarding the procedure?

I really would like to learn more about how to do this and would appreciate any help that the community could provide.

Thanks!

General / Auto rotate images in portrait orientation?
« on: December 10, 2012, 03:04:51 PM »
I'm curious,

Some DSLR's such as those by Canon have an auto rotate option where by the image will be automatically rotated if the camera has been placed in a portrait orientation.

Is there any best practice regarding this in respect to agisoft?  If my DSLR's offer this function should it be enabled or not if my cameras are used in a portrait orientation rather than landscape?

I'm thinking that it should be enabled :-)

Opinions?

General / Minimum number of cameras to reconstruct a surface?
« on: September 29, 2012, 06:20:56 PM »
What is the minimum number of cameras needed to reconstruct a surface using DSLR cameras?

Logic tells me the answer would be 2... but practically speaking, how many are needed at MINIMUM?

For example, say I have a person sitting in the center of a room.  Now lets assume that I have 2 DSLR cameras with 50mm lenses placed some distance away (let's assume 1 meter) both at 45 degree angles to the subject and aimed and focused at the subjects head.

Would 2 cameras be enough to reconstruct the surface in the "real world" or would more cameras be needed?  If more are required, how many would I need?

BTW... I would test this myself, but I only have a single DSLR at the moment. Hopefully, I can get more, but I'm trying to figure out the minimum number needed.

General / Agisoft and machine vision cameras is it possible?
« on: May 04, 2012, 01:25:35 PM »
My curious mind can't help but wonder if it is at all possible to use Agisoft with machine vision video cameras?  It would be really cool it it were possible.

So tell me, is this possible?   And if so, how would one do it?

Thanks!

General / Lighting for 360 3d capture
« on: April 27, 2012, 04:38:55 PM »
Hello,

I'd like to try and do a 360 degree scan of a person standing in an indoor studio. Can anyone with any experience of doing this give me some tips regarding the best way light the stage were my subject is standing in order to capture quality images for Agisoft both in terms of geometry capture and texture recreation.  I'm trying to learn the best way to go about this, can anyone share some hints & tips.

Many Thanks!!!

General / Pre-sales query No. 2, Large area outdoor scans?
« on: January 03, 2012, 04:07:38 PM »
Hi,

One further question.

Would Agisoft be a good solution for the following?   I've been asked if I could scan a large outdoor area, specifically the scene of an accident at a roadway intersection.  I guess typically this sort of thing would be done using a lidar solution, but I am curious to know if Agisoft would also be a good candidate for such a job?  Has anyone used Agisoft for such a purpose?

General / Pre-sales query
« on: December 03, 2011, 04:27:48 PM »
Hi,

I am considering purchasing however I've got a question that I'm hoping someone can help me with.  I would like to scan actual automobiles with Agisoft and I would like to know if anyone has done this and/or if it is possible?  Specifically, I would like to be able to scan a car that is parked outside, on a street, in a normal outside environment.  Is it possible to scan something like a car in such a non-controlled environment.  If so, I'd like to know what steps I would need to take in order to achieve a good scan using Agisoft.  If this can be done, I'll be making a purchase for sure!

Hope someone can share their experiences with me.

Thanks!
