Bug Reports / Re: Program crashes when trying to open (1.6.4)
« on: September 28, 2020, 11:52:32 PM »
I disabled Nahimic service and that fixed it.  I had disabled this before, but I guess the Windows update "fixed" that.  Nahimic also prevents 3d view in Global Mapper to work.

Thanks, I'll check on Nahimic.

In looking back, I see the problem started after updating Win10 to 2004 version.

Program simply freezes ("not responding") when trying to open the program.  I've tried to Repair and that hasn't helped.  See log below.

global mapper  $550
use it almost daily
It will export almost any format out there.

I've been noticing the same thing using 1.6.3
During generating depth maps phase, only seeing 25-40% load on GPU (occasional spikes to 60%) and CPU is at 100%.

What did it look like before you did the alignment?  Did the position of the photo ball locations look as expected?  In other words, have you verified the photo geotag data is correct and the geotag info was assigned to the correct photos?

Speaking of, how did you create the txt file?  I don't remember, does the Mapir 2 have built in GPS?  As I recall, they used to recommend using Geosetter to generate the geotag.

General / Re: Performance comparisons

Hello TXPE,

Do you have the logs for Comparison 1?
Log file from running on Azure VM attached.
Times slowed a little this time.
Depth maps: 20:07
Dense cloud: 18:36

I would really like to know how to fix this as I still want to run larger projects on Azure VM.  I've got a 3000+ acre project coming up next month.

Thanks.

Hello TXPE,

Do you have the logs for Comparison 1?

I do not.  I am re-running now on Azure VM.  I'll upload log once I have it.

See if this link still works.

[edit]  that link doesn't work anymore.  I'll look to see if I still have log file.

General / Performance comparisons
« on: July 24, 2019, 07:47:33 AM »
I was using a laptop for smaller projects and MS Azure VM for larger projects.  Up until the laptop died.  I replaced it with a new desktop.  I decided to do some unscientific comparisons.
I did comparisons on two different datasets.  First comparison is new desktop vs Azure VM and second comparison is new desktop vs old laptop.

I also wanted to do this because ever since upgrading the Azure VM to Metashape from Photoscan, I never thought it performed correctly (as discusssed here: https://www.agisoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=10304.msg48167#msg48167).  Comparison 1 appears to confirm it.

Upgrading RAM speed in new desktop made a difference, as did adding the tweak.

General / Remote access connection recommendations

What is the recommended software to use to remote access a PC running MS?  As I recall, MS-RDP is not recommended.  Will RealVNC or TeamViewer work?

General / Re: increase number of Key point detection
« on: March 28, 2019, 06:21:32 PM »
Based on other posts I've read here, the maximum number of key points per image is dependant on the MP of the image.  So, 9000 key points per 1MP image may be the upper limit that can be found.  Others with more knowledge may chime in here.

Is that camera considered a fisheye camera?  If so, would need to select that in camera calibration for camera type.

How, if at all, would the use of higher precision geotags (5-20 cm) affect step 1 (pg 4) of the instructions that state, "keep the accuracy settings to the default values...".

I've attached a log from job just completed.  Correction, zipped log file exceeds allowable file size.
[Update] link to log file https://www27.zippyshare.com/v/VpipZP4C/file.html

1231 20MP photos
high overlap with about 120 oblique photos in the group
Quality: high
Filtering: Aggressive

2x Xeon E5-2690 v3
224GB RAM
4x Nvidia K80

Depth maps generation time 5 hours 53 minutes
Dense cloud generation time 3 hours 41 minutes

I have been connecting via Remote Desktop.
I tried connecting via RealVNC server and still see:
 OpenGL Vendor: Google Inc.
OpenGL Renderer: ANGLE (Microsoft Basic Render Driver Direct3D9Ex vs_3_0 ps_3_0)
OpenGL Version: OpenGL ES 2.0 (ANGLE 2.1.99f075dade7c)
