New to ortophoto
« on: May 29, 2013, 05:04:09 PM »
Hello All,
My first works with demo version.
58 photos, Canon SX230HS, 1/800 s, ISO 100, my own construction UAV, flight level - 100 m above ground.
All done as described in tutorial: First run tutorial:

Orthophoto and DEM Generation with Agisoft PhotoScan Pro 0.8.5(without Ground Control Points)

Comments and suggestions -  welcome  :D

There appear to be some areas with increased 3D model noise in the ortho. Have you tried separate instead of grouped camera calibration? That may improve alignment and improve model quality. Also, in my experience texture quality has been very much improved from Photoscan version 08.5 to 0.9.1.

For above work camera lens was uncalibrated.
Calibration with Lens program just done, and tryied again to process photos with 0.9.1 software in demo mode. When finish - will post few screenshots.
Anyway - next week should buy full version.... :)

Here is link to short move on YT from field: http://youtu.be/I6dLvf14vwg

Looks like many of the cameras are resolved in pairs to the same position. If this is because they were actually taken from the same position (or very close) I think you will get much cleaner results by removing these 'duplicates'. The short baseline distance is no good for determining depth, but will generate a lot of good matches as the images are so similar. I'm not sure how well photoscan filters out photos taken in the same position like that, if at all.

Really nice to see the survey in action though, and not just the results :)

Marek,

I did not mean that you should use Agisoft Lens to calibrate cameras but that you should change the lens calibration settings in Photoscan (Tools >> Camera calibration >> right click on groups of images >> select "split groups"). That way, Photoscan creates a different calibration for each photograph. This can help to improve the model because there are always some parts moving in a point-and-shoot camera lens system (e.g. focussing, optical image stabilisation) which can create model errors or noise..
