I advise you a simple and very powerful software for your UVs : unfold3d
http://www.polygonal-design.fr/You choose the edges of your mesh to limit the islands and it makes ideal UVs.
You just have to eventually change scales of islands with Unwrap UVW in 3DS Max for example if you want more d?tails (for face) in a particular zone.
