Point cloud not aligned on the same plane
« on: October 17, 2017, 12:03:19 AM »
Hi! After performing an alignment (Accuracy: High; Key point limit: 40,000, Tie point limit: 4,000) , the points within the resulting point cloud are not aligned but forming clusters on different planes. Data are obtained from a Micasense multispectal camera when flying at 36 m altitude and 3 m/s. This effect is happening only on some of the acquisitions (see 2 attachments). What could be the source of this? Thank you

Hello pdodo,

I assume that there's an overlap problem. You can try to process the smaller part of the area, for example, using only single band images.

Thank you for your suggestion Alexey.
I wonder if any one observed a similar issue and could trace it back. The overlap was set to 75% (vertical and horizontal) and mission speed was low to allow for it. My guess is that the absence of a gimbal in combination with the low speed and presence of wind could have led to off nadir pointing?
