Something wrong with model export to OBJ file
« on: September 06, 2023, 05:11:16 PM »
Hi to everyone,
I'm using Agisoft Metashape version 1.8.5 and something get wrong when I exported model to OBJ file.
I done reconstruction with spherical panoramas (360° panorama) and 3D model looks fine inside Agisoft Metashape app, but when I want to export texture then I got strange model and strange texture with that model too. I really don't know what might cause this problem. I tried to export model with 3 textures, and with 1 texture...same results.
Final exported  model looks like someone build it in Minecraft, it's like build from large blocks instead of, well triangles. Texture behaves in a same way too.
Also this model is also available on my Sketchfab so I'll share link to you, to check.
Check pictures reported in attachments (should be like, and NOT should be like pictures)
Take in mind that I opened model in 3D Model viewer so picture looks darker than usual. By the way 3D model looks also darker in SketchFab so take this into consideration too.
Link for SketcFab 3D model: https://skfb.ly/oKPuQ
Please help  :)

Hello jkova96,

Looks like the similar problem has been describe in the following article: https://agisoft.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000162477-exported-mesh-becomes-less-detailed-and-ripples

What coordinate system is selected in the Reference pane settings for the chunk, what system is used for the model export and whether you are applying any shift upon the export?
Also please specify, if any coordinate values are input to the Reference pane (source values) for cameras or markers.
Best regards,

Hi,

I did not knew for that type of let's called this problem.
Sorry if I put this into wrong section of this forum, I mean on Reported Bugs, but firstly I thought that there's something wrong with export model feature.
I did not face with this 'problem' so far...I mean.
I'll share with you some informations about it.
Coordinate system used in project is actually local coordinate system, but coordinates are measured on HTRS96/TM Croatia which is projection coordinate system, something similar like
XYZ Cartesian 3D coordinate system...so I did not change anything. In fact, even I'm familiar, or so so 'familiar' with Agisoft, I don't know how to change between coordinate system without affecting other measurements in...i.e. when generating Processing Report...cause when I change coordinate system and after (or before, I'm not sure right now) do some scaling with scale bars, I get errors in meters or kilometers...So most of time, if not necessary I leave my coordinate system to be "Local Coordinate" system.

I solve my problem thanks to your reply (https://agisoft.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000162477-exported-mesh-becomes-less-detailed-and-ripples)
Check for image(s) below, if you interested what I done to make this happen. I numbered images.

SO, Can you help me maybe with one other problem, I mean on "Generate report" option cause I'm getting "Null Point Cloud points" error even I managed to limit region over point cloud? I described my problem here (last one, so far): https://www.agisoft.com/forum/index.php?topic=12534.0

Thanks in for advance...
And yeah sorry for my bad english, I'll try to improve them :)
