Alignment problems with Asus smartphone
« on: March 21, 2018, 01:11:53 PM »
Dear All,
I have a problem with pictures taken by my Asus Zenfone 4 Max. It seems Photoscan (1.3.4) can't handle them in order to produce good point clouds and 3d models. Indeed the models it creates are flat...Could it be an issue of camera calibration? I don't encounter this problem with Iphone 6.

Thank you in advance for any help.
Ia hava attache a screenshot of the camera calibration window.

Regards
Gabriele

Hello Gabriele,

What's in the Adjusted values tab for aligned cameras?

Hello gabbro,

Have you tried to align the cameras with the disabled Adaptive Camera Model Fitting option?

Hello, it seems the pictures are now aligned (see attchment), however I can't see the point cloud and the models that have been generated. When I rotate the view it seems there is something, but it's hard to zoom on it. Please consider that it was just a test in order to verify if I was able to build a model by use of my smartphone, I suppose my pictures had to be taken in a more accurate way, right?

Thank you
best regards

Hello gabbro,

I think that incorrect (or very inaccurate) GPS meta information is affecting the result that you are observing. All coordinates of the camera locations, according to the Reference pane, are identical.

So select all cameras in the Reference pane, right-click on selection and choose Clear or Uncheck option from the context menu. Then in the Reference pane settings dialog switch the coordinate system from WGS84 to Local Coordinates. And then finally right-click on the chunk's label in the Reference pane and choose Reset Transform option from the context menu.
Then just Reset View in the Model view.
