Bad Allocations on main PC but runs on lower spec PC
« on: May 20, 2018, 12:32:54 PM »
My main PC is failing on scans where my other PC does it fine, the new PC was built for Photogrammetry.

It is a 1950x threadripper, 64gb ram fast ssds, 1080ti etc.
I am getting a lot of Bad Allocations on it tho where my older pc's do just fine but slower...
The file I attached I cut a big section from the middle to make it small enough.

Any help would be much appreciated! :)

Have you tested the ram or tried removing some of the sticks?

So far 25 hours in of Ram checking and no errors yet.
Any other things to try?

Hello Josh,

The issue could be related to the excessive image overlap if every camera is overlapping with almost any other. You can limit the number of evaluated pairs of the dense cloud filtering process, however.

Go to Tools Menu -> Preferences dialog -> Advanced tab -> Tweaks button, then in the opened dialog create the new parameter named main/dense_cloud_max_neighbors and set it value to 55, for example. Then re-start the dense cloud generation (if you have saved the depth maps, you can re-use them to save the processing time).
