Multiple Volume Calculations
« on: July 17, 2018, 01:26:07 AM »
Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a project - I'm looking to calculate the volume of a gravel pile from a scan I did for work and break it down into volume per elevation or per range of elevation (ie. 400 - 420m the volume = x).

I've created the DEM and am able to calculate the total volume of the scanned area, but is there any way to break this down to be more precise or would I need to do this in another program (ie. arcmap)?

Thanks in advance,
AM

Hi AM,

You should be able to do this with Agisoft.

1. Digitize a polygon around your gravel pile
2. Right click on it and choose MEASURE
3. In the Volume tab choose Custom level as Base plane and enter a value.
4. Click Update

For example, if you want to know the volume from 400 to 420m, then first get a volume (above) measurement for 400m, another volume (above) measurement for 420m and then calculate the difference. This should give you the volume for the range 400-420m. Let me know if it works.

All the best.

SAV
