Split in chunks & Strict volume masking
« on: July 17, 2018, 04:56:03 PM »
Hello,

In order to save RAM, I generated a 3D model in each of 2 chunks (that were "split in chunks") with strict volume masking. After merging the 2 chunks (with merge models checked), the model appears cut in half, where the 2 bounding boxes joined, as you can see in the screenshot attached.

How can I fix that ?

Thank you!

Hello FredR,

Can you post the screenshots of the smaller chunks separately, how the area next to the "seamline" look like for them?

Hello Alexey,

Find attached the first screeenshot of the 2 parts.
When I don't split in chunjs, the model is ok.

Thank you.

As you can see in the attached file, when I don't "split in chunks", the result is fine.

Hello Alexey,

Do you need more information about this issue ?

Thank you!

Hello FredR,

Looks like there are some extrapolated polygons by the bounding box border generated by the new method that results in a visible seamline after merging.

Are you generating the model parts with some overlap? Maybe as a workaround you can build the models with some overlap (5-10%) and then shrink the box back again (still to provide minimal overlap) and delete the polygons outside the box and then merge the models. Can you try that? Or I could try to use a similar project and reproduce the issue and check this workaround.

Hello Alexey,

I am not overlapping the parts, just using the split in chunks feature. Does-it mean that we can't use the split in chunks feature  with the new method without using your workaround?

Thank you!
