RTX 20xx series vs SLI 10xx series

I'm looking at building a machine for working with photoscan and trying to make a call on what video card(s) I should go with. Has anyone worked with the new RTX cards yet?

I'm trying to understand what is the most important factor for performance, is it just all about cuda cores? A pair of 1070ti's has 4,862 total cuda cores, a single 2080 has 2944, and a single 2080ti has 4352.. Based on cuda cores alone the 1070ti seems to be the best option, but I'm wondering if other factors are worth considering as well, like memory speed, clock speed, newer architecture those kinds of things..

Any thoughts on this from anyone?
