Title: What governs possible projections to be exported?
Post by: 3DWinter on February 22, 2019, 09:05:22 AM
Hello,
I cannot understand why I cannot export the file to projected UTM. I can export to Lat Long, Projected Albers, but not UTM. For some reason with a different data set, I can export to UTM. Both data sets were processed with lat-long coordinates.
attached
is a printscreen.

Hello 3DWinter,

The coordinate system selection field is case sensitive, so either input "UTM" to find the desired system, or use the EPSG code for faster search.

Good point. And you are right, typing UTM (upper case) helped but then I found only UTM  NAD 83 and not UTM WGS84 as can be seen in CaptureIII.
On the same computer, everything is the same,  opening a different model I processed earlier there is UTM WGS 84! - Seen in CaptureIV.

What is going on?

The data is different but both the GPS  for the images was Lat/Long.

thanks

Hello 3DWinter,

In which coordinate system DEM has been generated?

Ok, so the model that I am trying to convert to UTM 84, was generated in NAD83 (2011)/alaska zone4 (EPSG::6397).
This bears the question if a model is created 83 datum can you not export to an 84 datum!?

Hello 3DWinter,

The conversions between two coordinate systems in Metashape is possible, either when both are based on the same datum, or if for both systems TOWGS84 parameters are defined.

In case these parameters are not available, you can manually input transformation parameters to Datum Transformation Settings dialog for the source system (via Reference pane settings).
