Title: create side view elevation from photos
Post by: V-cube on June 20, 2019, 04:52:26 PM
Hello,

I have been using the Metashape trial version for a week now and I have to say I am really impressed! I am an architect and I want to use it as an alternative for the costly laser scanning to create 3D pointclouds of existing buildings, which will be used as a reference for my 3D model when planning extensions etc.

Although my first experiences are really promising, I have one question :

Is it possible to generate a 2D bitmap side elevation from the aligned Photos? I am asking because I would like to have a lightweight alternative to the full point cloud / mesh based approach, furthermore Metashape sometimes does not create points in certain areas wich are e.g. overexposed. So I would just like to have a undistorted picture of the side elevations of the project. Possible?

thank you and best regards

Andreas Walther

Hello Andreas Walther,

You can create orthomosaics from custum views (for example every facade) of your well modeled building. You can also use these orthomosaics in your CAD app if needed. If your models need some improvement before orthomosaic generation you can export them to a third party app, refine it there and after that reimport it and generate then your desired orthomosaics.

Best regards
