Title: Turntable Tips?
Post by: OutrageousBPLUS on August 12, 2020, 04:54:02 PM
Hello all,

I have a piece of a model that I wish to scan so I can modify it in zBrush to give some of my units a more personal touch.

I'm trying out using a turntable, and for the life of me I can't seem to get it to work well. When I scan the object using the method in the banana tutorial (tie point alignment), I end up with;

- a bunch of the background included in the scan
- two of the object in the scan (mirrored or perpendicular)

When I try to not use a single image without the object as a tie point mask and use intelligent scissors, the same thing happens.

I've also tried placing the object on a automated turntable, taking a video, and converting it to images.

The object is small, I applied a matte primer to it. I'm using a Samsung S20 as the camera. I've tried shooting straight ahead and at an angle. Lighting is using one of those little photo booths you can get on Amazon.

Any suggestions welcome!
