Title: Georeference missing in .mov video frames (?)
Post by: GroundControl on August 07, 2022, 03:44:20 PM
Video frames processed well but no geographic reference (coordinates) associated with the model.   The video was flown with a DJI Phantom multispectral.   Any advice on whether it is possible to associate frames with georeferencing data from the drone ?  (no GCPs used)

Same issue here. I was excited to see "Added support for GPS meta data import from DJI videos with embedded subtitles." in the latest change log for Metashape. So today before I did a video I double checked that Video Subtitles was checked on my Mavic Air 2. I just got home and imported the .MOV but nothing as far as location is in the output PNG files.

Hello,
Could you please send an example of such a video file to support@agisoft.com

Ok I've sent the .MOV file to that email address. Let me know if you need anything else.

Ok so I've just come to the conclusion that DJI (Mavic Air 2 at least) saves the gps data to a separate SRT file on the SD card. I have formatted my SD card several times now since that flight. This is a huge bummer if this type of data is not in the metadata of the video file. I import into Lightroom, format the sd card and have it ready to go again. Lightroom doesn't see an SRT file as anything valuable and ignores it. Can Metashape take advantage of this SRT file? If so, how? If anyone knows why this info can't just be embedded in the video file itself please explain why.

Hello,
Metashape does parse srt file if it is located in the same folder as a video file and it's name match video file name. For example if video file name is DJI_0335.MP4, subtitles should have name DJI_0335.srt . Then you can just import video as usual and check that metadata is imported in the Reference pane.

Thank you very much, Agisoft support has been very helpful. I shall give this all another go and save the SRT file this time around.
