Title: .rcp and .rcs file formats
Post by: titane357 on August 30, 2013, 07:42:18 PM
hello
I use 3dsmax and autodesk will soon "give" max users a point cloud tool.
But it seems that it need .rcp or .rcs file formats which is a autodesk format (I think)
Any idea to convert data from photoscan to this format ? Thanks.

You can use the free version of Recap to convert your chosen format to .rcs.

http://www.autodesk.com/products/recap/overview

.rcs is the file that is created from the scan file and the .rcp file is the project file for ReCap.

Kind regards
Colin
Title: Autodesk .RCP format support
Post by: bmc130 on July 07, 2015, 10:11:55 PM
I would really like to have a direct export from Agisoft to Autodesk Recap pointcloud format .RCP

Not having to go through one extra program just for converting files to be able to import point cloud data to 3DsMax would be really helpful!

Hi, no I never tried exporting the cloud from max. Since max is my last software for the process I never bothered to check:) Max doesent have any tools for working with pointcloud in that sense more for reference and visual feedback.

thank you for you quick reply,

Do you have any software in mind that can work with point cloud in that aspect?

Thanks again!

Autodesk Recap, meshlab which is free, there is some more of course but I would say it all depends on what you want to do. But the only way I have worked with pointcloud is in max as pure reference.
