Title: PSD Texture Mask Collage
Post by: scanlab.ca on October 12, 2013, 09:57:34 PM
This might sound a bit far fetched, but I was wondering if it would be possible to somehow make PS export a version of a texture consisting of a collage of all photo masks.

The attached image is an example of a mesh generated with PS, zBrushed and reImported for texture projection.

What you see is an Onion skin looking texture. What I want to have is to be able to selectively paint out a mask of a projection, which would better contribute to the desired look of my subject.

So, basically, every "Onion" layer, would be a Photoshop layer of a single projection, however many cameras there are, and every layer would have a mask associated with it to reveal parts of a projection which are contributing to the "Final Texture".

+999 this time...... sometimes PS generate weird projections and to search for the problematic one is time consuming....

Recently spent many long nights exporting individual texture maps from photoscan, rendering out each one on it's own obj and creating an orthophoto collage in photoshop with hundreds of images. Only after all that I was able to 'enjoy' blending each layer by hand...

For me this would be most useful to have this as an option in the orthophoto export dialog so that I can set the ortho plane and precise resolution etc, although it would work for me in the texture export too if I just set the UVs to an ortho mapping.

This is maybe simpler than anything like this: http://www.agisoft.ru/forum/index.php?topic=862 (http://www.agisoft.ru/forum/index.php?topic=862) (unfortunatley video link doesn't work there anymore)

Hello all,

Actually, it is possible to export textures based on the individual cameras using Python scripting. The same is valid for orthophoto generation based on the individual cameras.

I don't think its a viable option for 40+ cameras. :S

Another benefit of having this sort of layer approach available to us is that it would enable us to troubleshoot misaligned cameras much easier. Since Build texture does not discard portions of photos but builds the whole thing whether its a match or not.

this option would be very usefull, it would allow us to blend manually the different images like it is possible in photo stitching programs such as realviz or autopanogiga

With Adobe Bridge selected photos can be opened in a single psd flie each on individual layers.

Opening photos is not a problem. The time consuming bit is figuring out which image contributes, in which order and extracting each map individually.

I do have a solution for this, but an out of the box method would've been nice to have.
