Title: newbie questions - Chunks
Post by: Brit on September 02, 2014, 05:58:52 PM
I can't find a detailed description of "chunks". Are this bits that one puts together when making a detailed object (in parts -say a church with sculptures on it -doing each sculpture separately), and/or with photos from different perspectives (say from a top view, then a chunk form a side view)? I am new to this software, but I have used 123 Catch quite a bit. Also is using Photoshop to mask a good idea? ...How Do I import it then?

Chunks can be thought of as "mini" projects within a project which can share photos and be aligned relative to each other. There are many uses for chunks. Your example of a church with sculptures and doing a separate chunk for each sculpture is one. Another might be a chunk for each side of a building. If an object has lots of small detail which is captured in many close-up photos then the surface of the object can be split into multiple overlapping chunks to reduce the maximum number of photos per chunk.

It is important to have sufficient overlap between chunks that the chunks can be aligned relative to each other.
