Title: New sample images/scan sets released
Post by: 3dmij on January 11, 2015, 01:43:33 PM
Hi,
I just released a few new 3D scan image sets, including processed data (with agisoft). These scans have 2 images sets each. One with projection and one with out. You you can use the projection set to create the mesh in agisoft. Then you can export the mesh and camera settings. Create a new chunk with the images without projection, import the camera settings and mesh and then you can create the texture without any of the projection shown.

You can find the sample 3D scan sets here: http://www.pi3dscan.com/index.php/download/category/sample-scan-files

Hi,

nice results from this kind of cameras ;)

Could you share some informations about the projectors for pattern ? what is the type of projector ?

I am using Optoma GT760 projectors, these are "short-throw" projectors, meaning that display more then 2 meters wide from just 1 meter distance. I have them rotated at 90 degrees, so they can cover an adult from just this 1 meter distance from feet till head.

I am using 4 projectors, one from each corner of my oval shaped machine. This pretty much covers most parts of a person.

The pattern is auto generated by my software, running on a raspberry. It randomly just created this pattern by a very.. very simple process :-) for each pixel it is a 50% change of being white or black :-)

Cool idea with the projector, thanks for sharing the examples!

Hi,

thanks for sharing those informations ;)

Projector has no problems with overheating, working in a vertical position for a long time (few hours) ?

Yes. Thank you.
I was doing a little looking around and found this article on using projection. It seems to say they had better results with a lower resolution, slightly out of focus pattern. (Did I misunderstand?)

working in a vertical position for a long time (few hours) ?

Over time yes it will damage the projector, it's bad for heat circulation, they just aren't designed for it. Most manufacturers would suggest against orienting them vertically.

I tried the dog scan with several settings in Agisoft and it came out as a useless super low-poly blob. It did properly align all of the images provided.

I tried a bunch of settings, I even tried all the high settings and it took an hour to generate.

I haven't created a single object in Agisoft with my own images and it appears using someone else's images Agisoft still is complete junk. Anyone else try these released models in Agisoft? I feel like there is a "Make awseome" button but it doesn't exist.

Hello dpadam450,

Just out of interest made a quick test on 1035_2 dataset and everything went fine. My workflow:
- added photos,
- aligned photos (high accuracy, key/tie point limit - 40000/0, disabled preselection),
- built dense cloud on default region (medium quality, aggressive filtering),
- cropped dense cloud to the area of interest,
- built mesh (arbitrary, from dense cloud, enabled interpolation),
- generated texture (generic mapping, 4096 atlas size, mosaic blending).

Thanks Alexey,
Appreciated. I will try this when I get home. I would definitely buy Agisoft if I could get a couple things working, just havent had much luck.
