Title: Can't check the pictures in reference tab
Post by: Ant on April 02, 2015, 11:10:12 AM
Hi there,

I've just downloaded PhotoScan Pro 1.1.4 on Windows x64.

After the aligning step, I'm trying to check all my pictures in order to get the total camera error (pix) but it doesn't work.

Same when I position my markers, the software doesn't want to give me the total marker error (m).

Can someone please help me?

Cheers,
Ant

Hello Ant,

You can't check on cameras or markers in the Reference pane without any source values.

Average reprojection error can be checked in the Chunk Info dialog.

Hi Alexey,

Tx for quick reply and for the info!

Sorry I'm a bit confused about source values. How do I add them?

How can I see the errors (m) for cameras and markers?

Cheers,
Ant

Hello Ant,

You can input source (measured) values from the text file using Import button on the pane or input them manually - select corresponding cell and press F2 (for markers you can open coordinate editing in the cell also by double-clicking).

Error in meters is the difference between measured position of the point (camera or marker) and estimated by PhotoScan. In case there are no measured values in the Source tab it is not possible to calculate the difference.

Hi Alexey,

Belated thanks for your reply!

I did insert input source manually by using markers positioned on a ruler. However I still can't check the pictures (either by clicking right button and then check, or by ticking the square on the left of each picture in the camera tab). Therefore I also can't see the camera error (m)...

It's strange because it was working fine with the previous versions of PhotoScan...

Cheers,
Ant

Hello Ant,

If you don't have source values for camera positions, it is not possible to calculate the errors. Error is meters is the difference between source and estimated values.

Hi Alexey,

Thanks, that makes more sense now!

What's about the camera error (pix), it is a useful value even if I don't have any source inputs for the camera positions?

Cheers,
Ant

Hello Ant,

Error in pixels shows average reprojection error for tie points present on each photo. Usually it should be under 0.6 - 0.8 pixels. If the error value is over 1 pixel, there are likely some problems.
