Title: Blur aware texturing
Post by: mik.a. on June 11, 2015, 10:39:21 AM
Hello,

when scanning small objects one problematic issue is the resulting texture: since not everything can be in focus often i have results where a patch of sharp texture is near another blurry, even though the blurry piece can be replaced by a piece of another photo that was much more in focus.

The current solution is simply masking out the blurred parts, but is very time consuming.

Would be nice if Photoscan can be aware of the amount of blur in the photos and when generating those textures it choose automatically the most in focus/ sharper parts.
From a user point of view there would simply be something like a checkbox on the texture generation dialog to enable the blur aware algorithm, similar to the color correction one.

That would be a nice feature indeed. Even a simpler version that prefers the center of a photo would be of help (since the center of the photo is often highr quality).
