i am trying to map fully grown pine plantaions post fire but cannot get the middle photos to align (my AOI) , i have mapped newly planted pine(1m) and bluegum (2-3m) plantations before with success. (infact the new plantings surrounding my AOI come out great)
camera - sx260 (NIR modified)
height 120m
photo every 2 secs (~ 80% forward overlap)
60% side overlap
NO GCP
align medium / reference, / default tie points
did two seperate flights to ensure overlap (one North- sth other SW-NE)
made a chunk of best overlap area with > 2000 photos in ~ 30ha, processed seperately still no sucess
i can go through the photos and clearly see overlaping features
Has anyone successfully mapped a fully grown pine plantations (20 - 30m trees) ?
if so what altitude did you use?
( as a side question is there a way to open two photos side by side to manually add tie points?)

Hello Flying Ant,
Can you post also a preview of a couple of images from the not aligned sub-set?
I can suggest to use higher accuracy and higher tie point limit for alignment. Also you can check if there are any matching points found between the aligned and not aligned cameras using View Matches dialog (accessible from the Photos pane context menu after right-clicking on the image thumbnail).
To open two images you need to open the first image, then right-click on the photo tab label in the Photo view and choose "Move to another tab" option. Then make the model view active and open another image by double-clicking on its label in any pane.

i rtied with high accuracy and 40000 te points but it still doesn't align the images in the center any other sugeestions?

Fly higher and/or use a longer focal length. Both will reduce radial parallaxes
