Title: Can not align photos when I used turning table!!!
Post by: 3DPLUS on December 24, 2015, 10:27:38 AM
Hello!
The first, wish you a merry christmas!
Im a newbie at Agisoft, I have a problem:  When I use a turning table ( with the green board behind). I can not align photos!
1.Should I mask all the photos?
2.And what is the suit setting on the align panel?
Thanks !!

Hello Duytap,

Yes, you need to mask the background on all the photos (can be automated, if you take one image of the background without the object from the same camera position).

Darkened area means that it is masked, so on your second screenshot the object s masked, actually, and not the background.

The object itself seems to be quite difficult for the reconstruction - it has not so many feature details (lacking texture pattern) and there are blinks on the surface.

Additionally i can suggest to take images from the shorter distance (if possible with your camera) or use bigger focal length. It will allow to occupy more image frame space with the valuable data and not with the background that wouldn't be used after masking.

As for the alignment settings, i can suggest to use High accuracy, Generic or disabled preselection, 40000/10000 for key point and tie point limits correspondingly.

Hi Alexey Pasumansky.
Thank you very much.
But I wonder the thing: AUTOMATIC mask the background. Could you show me some helpful link or tutorial about it?

Hello Duytap,

I think that the following video related to the masking options in PhotoScan should be useful for you:

Hi Alexey Pasumansky.
You're very kind!
Please help me the next step:
How can I creat all mask for all photos ( by photoshop? and how?)
I saw agisoft has the function name: IMPORT MASK. But  it doesnt work for me!
Could you check the image I attacked below and tell me what should I chose?
- IMG_4430.jpg is the background
- IMG_4431.jpg is the sample shoot
- and the import mask.png is my chosen
THANKS!!

Hello Duytap,

In the mask filename template field you should specify IMG_4430.jpg.

Replacement, since there are no other masks already applied to the image.
