Title: How to get better results ?
Post by: mschulte@sidl.de on May 03, 2016, 09:12:30 PM
Hi there,

we have build a PIScanner with 100 PI Cameras.
The results are something like in the attchement. It is with meshmixer cleared.

Is it possible to get better results in the face ?
Is that only possible with better pictures, more resulution, or structured lights or other settings in photosacn ?
We do it with all to high, moderate filtering, 600000 faces
as a result we have 30000 points in camera akignment, 600000 faces by 4.187790 dots in the mesh

thank you very much

Mikle

You need to use structured light indeed. You may also have bad lighting in your scanner setup because the colors look weird.
Do you have some pictures of your setup?

Regarding noise projection, what equipment do you recommend? Has anyone made noise projection work with smaller turntables and a tripod/fixed camera?

you can use any suitable videoprojector, you just turn on/off projecting an image with the noise pattern you prefer.

Regarding the second question the answer is no, it won't work. The projected noise must become part of the surface color of the target. If you rotate the target, the noise will be projected in different spots in the different shots.

What's the cheapest way to do noise projection?

Something like this, will work?
