Title: New to photogrammetry - 3d scanner related question

Hello.
I was wondering if there is any connection between Agisoft Photoscan workflow and 3d laser scanners, like Faro Focus, output.
As I have seen from tutorials, a 3d laser scanner outputs a Dense point Cloud and it is up to the user to continue building the 3d Mesh in (CAD) software manually based on said Cloud.
From the tutorials for Photoscan software I have not seen any option to import a dense point cloud. From a quick search in the forums here, I saw posts requesting this option since 2014. Am I missing something?

Overall, can a 3d laser scanner fit in anyway in the Agisoft Photoscan workflow, or are we talking about a completely different field between laser scanning and photogrammetry?

I was wondering the same thing, I'm looking into maybe buying a David SLS2 3D Scanner and I was wondering if Photoscan can use the point cloud data from it to generate a mesh and texture thereafter. Anyone have any thoughts on that or experience?

Hello Yasouros and BT106,

At the moment PhotoScan doesn't support point cloud data import. But could you please specify what kind of tasks you are planning to solve by using the mixture of laser-scanning and photogrammety approaches?

Some obvious suggestions would be to take better texture images vs. lidar devices, or take detailed photoscans of small objects that will replace the same objects in lidar where the lidar resolution is not sufficient.
