Title: Who can save the goddess
Post by: kris3d on August 27, 2012, 02:30:05 AM
I took 150 photos.
And many hours of processing.
But the goddess Yamantaka still does not look good: (
Does anyone have any idea how to improve the quality of this model.
Very bad Lookin gap between the elements.

35mm lens with no distortion.
Canon 5D II 21 Mp
May mask would be a solution, but I can not make a mask for 150 photos.
Processing done at medium quality.

Hello kris3d,

If you wish you can provide us the dataset.

The background-to-mask feature could be an option, but it requires images taken exactly from the same positions but without an object. Even if the statuette could be moved it is also time consuming operation since you have to use tripod and to take two photos for each camera position (with and without the object). However, in case of turntable this process could be done significantly faster.

For now,  123D catch goddesses saved.
It's not perfect, but clearly better than agisoft PhotoScan

Hello kris3d,

Could you please provide the original image set without any corrections and transformations (crop, rotate, resize and etc.) made for photos?

Out of curiosity I downloaded the data and processed with my own method I have been working on now for a while. I think I can do this better but that's what I got at first try. I hope you don't mind.

Did you by any change shoot any more photographs, more angles, close ups or such...? You said 150 in the first post but only 75 included in the uploaded file.

Took about 1 hour to process.

Hello Kris, object like this will be problematoc to do even on WhiteLight solution ( prices up to 80.000 EUR ) you wil need a LOT of scanning work ( separate scans+pairing it together ) , to get all the details ......

So it depend on what is need to be done and use the best methode to get reasonable results, for this im personaly thinking that at least 200+ photos would be nescesary for detailed work. You choose hardest one for start :-) can send me just ALIGNED scene without images ?? to see the camera positions and giving you advice for next run... if want

Experimenting with Pscan is nescesary for profesional work, some are easy , some hard, some unsolvable..... it depend on experience what to say to client, if is it possible or not and for what price range......

I already know that these programs have a lot of limitations.
But I know that The question of time.
And scans will look better than it actually is.
Just my expectations were too high.
