Hi Agisoft Team,
I just wanted to know if Photoscan Pro will be (or already is) supporting the new AMD Ryzen 7 processor series.
They seem to be good value for money. 8 cores/16 threads @ 4GHz for AUD 699.
Performance seems to be quite impressive too, http://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-7-1800x-i7-6900k-gaming-benchmarks/ (http://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-7-1800x-i7-6900k-gaming-benchmarks/). Apparently Intel has started to adjust the prices of it's i5 and i7 series to stay competitive....

Anand tested it. Looks like i7 is still better

Almost equal... but at half the price...
Ryzen has an unbeatable value for money at the moment.
-
Intel is lowering prices also it seems
-
I would assume that most of the programs are optimized for intel CPUs.
Is it possible that Agisoft is not using all the multicore potential of the Ryzen ? (atm)
-
Software optimizations for CPU nearly always mean:
- using all cores (for example by OpenMP)
- using extensions (like SSE and AVX)
And such optimizations works well on all CPUs. So optimization for Ryzen should be as good (or as bad) as for Intel CPUs.

Hi,
In a Anandtech review (http://bit.ly/2pCzq20), Photoscan v1.0 got mixed results vs Intel. Since this benchmark in based on on the old v1.0, i was wondering how it's perform with all the tweaks on the lastest version.
Any info?

Any updates on this? I'm looking to build a new desktop workstation, and would love to create a Ryzen bases system.
Anyone using Ryzen, and/or an AMD gpu?
-
I am using a Ryzen 1700X without any issues so far! (Around 10-20 hours of processing time per week...)
Before you buy an AMD GPU have a look in the actual specifications!
I think they switched to CUDA which is NVIDIA based...

CUDA is used for the NVIDIA cards, for AMD and Intel cards OpenCL is still used for the computations.

Might want to wait it out even longer for the AMD Threadripper CPUs coming soon... 16 cores/32 threads... 64 PCIe lanes for better GPU utiliazation. Looks like Intel has an 18 core cpu in the works too!

WOW. AMD seems to be pulling out some big guns.
I think I need a new computer soon ;-)

I currently have a computer with AMD Ryzen 7 / NVIDIA GTX 1070.
Everything's running super fast, and no problem occurred.
The actual limit of Ryzen CPU is the compatibility with RAM to be use at the highest speed... Not even sure I have the right combination

I'm using the Ryzen 1700x with 64GB of G-Skill Ryzen RAM and a GTX1060 GPU and I keep getting "out of memory" errors on even simple tasks like dense point cloud or texture with 60 or so images. Don't understand as Windows says only 6-7 GB of RAM is in use at the time and it doesn't go up when Agisoft tries to process.

New GPU from AMD

Hello tgilbert,
Do you have 64-bit version of PhotoScan installed?
-
My bad, you were correct. I had moved Agisoft to the new PC but used the 32 bit installer instead of the 64 bit installer. It's working just fine now and no crashes since I reinstalled it.

We're looking to build a Threadripper Agisoft Workstation and just wanted to know if there is some experience in already running this kind of machines. Thanks!

I use 1950, Asus X399-A, Samsung M.2 250GB, 4x16 G.Skill TridentZ 3200 (but default is 2400 because I havenĀ“t overclocked) and Nvidia GTX 1060. Ubuntu 16.04. It is a lot faster than my last build, AMD Phenom II 965 and 4x4 RAM.
If you have some pictures and settings I can doa bechmark.
