Hi
I wonder if it is possible to change georeferencing of a referenced geoTIFF file
in an external programme like ArcGIS? Or lets say re-georeference a DEM or 2D aerial image (TIFF format).
At the moment it looks like it is not that simple At least I failed to change properties of the file.

George, in ArcGIS you can use the "georeferencing" tool. You'll find it under Customize>Tool Bars. I have used it many times on Photoscan orthophotos, etc.

Any GIS should be able to geoference a TIF. The problem that you encounter may be that the GIS sees that there already is georeferencing information included in the file. The simplest solution would probably be to open the TIF in any other graphics software (e.g. GIMP or PhotoShop) and save it to a new TIF file. This should get rid of the existing georeferencing.
