Title: Problem with allign photos
Post by: scannapieco on December 30, 2017, 01:19:11 AM
Dear user,
I have a serious problem with the allign procedure of some photos of a small italian city.
I made nadir photos, oblique photos and detailed photos of the buildings.
I have to make the 3D model of the city.
During the allign procedure, the detailed photos are positioned by Photoscan at a superior quote respect the other photos (please see the screen shot attached).
What is the problem?
Best regards.

I would guess most likely the problem is the difference in sampling resolution/density of the detailed photos compared to the other aerial photos.

If the scale of features in the detailed set is much greater than that in the general set then photoscan is unlikely to find any good matches.

What I would try first is:
failing that, if you have the pro version then you can add a few control points (markers) between the two sets and repeat the steps above.

One other 'out of the box' idea, is:

In photoshop or similar downsample the detailed images by a factor of two and save, then repeat a few times so you have several sets at different resolutions all the way from the original resolution down to a resolution that closely matches that of the aerial images, with a few intermediate resolutions, and add all these images into a single chunk and align.

you can try grouping the sets of identical images at the different resolutions into 'camera stations' and that might...do...something...?
