Title: RAIL LINESURVEY-Single line of Images (20km) with GCP's
Post by: aerial_survey on July 10, 2018, 04:08:49 AM
Is it bad practice to Survey  a rail line with a single centreline using ground control points using only overlap front and back OR should I at lease run 2 lines along the rail line?
Thanks in advance

From my experience it's a really bad practice ;). I think you should run at least 3 lines. Also GCP's should be placed not only along the line, but also on the edges. Ex. 3 GCP's every 200meters of rail line.

Yes, I agree with Krzysztof and would also call it bad practice. At least 2 or 3 lines with high side overlap (70-90%) are necessary.
