Which kind of flash do you have? If you have one of the cheap one i am quite sure the shutter speed is too fast.
I would recommend to reduce shutter speed to e.g. 1/80 or 1/60 (which is quite fast for normal moving things) and adjust flash power according your light requirements.

For high shutting speed you really need quite good and expensive flash.
With the cheap one (even if they tell you other specification) you will have problems.
Beside this you should also use cable instead of wireless flash sync.

Hope this helps.

Is it possible to find out which picture/pictures is finally used for specific area to generate the texture?

E.g.:
I would like to know which pictures are used for the eye area.
With this information i could remove the bad looking reflections with photoshop for this specific pictures before final texture creation. Doing this for only few pictures would quite time consuming. ;-)

Every idea is welcome.

Feature Requests / Select front view picture for X/Y/Z orientation
« on: March 01, 2015, 02:33:59 PM »
Would be good to have the possibility to manually select one of the photos to define the front view.
This photo is then used as reference for X/Y/Z orientation of the object.

Alternatively the user could also select one photo as top/bottom/front/rear/left/right view.

General / Camera calibration method to get correct scale of model ???
« on: January 08, 2015, 11:46:30 PM »
Is it possible to modify the camera calibration parameters in order to have correct scale in photoscan (standard version)? I really miss the scale calibration in the standard version. Any other solution, welcome.

In general i am using the "Import Mask from Background" feature for selected cameras (new feature) as a first step.
Beside this i want to add manually selected mask (e.g. Rectangle Selection) to remove specific areas from all pictures. This could be the turntable, bottom of a person or areas with moving objects (e.g. window).

I would like to request the feature to add manual selected (add, subtract, invert) for all selected cameras.

Face and Body Scanning / Re: More megapixels or better optics?
« on: November 01, 2014, 04:55:52 PM »
The amount of mega pixels is not only the most important.
I did some tests with pictures with 18m and the same resized to 5m.
Final result almost the same.
You can also achive very good results with Arduino Cam (5M pixels only).

Based on my experience the most important things are:
+ The more pictures ... the better (min. 40-60 pictures per 360° rotation)
+ Good lightning (no shadows)
+ fixed ISO and shutter speed (ISO 100 recommended)
+ The higher the aperture, the better (on DSLR f8 or higher). To get everything sharp.

Feature Requests / Scale function for standard version
« on: October 05, 2014, 12:27:28 PM »
There is really one basic feature in the standard version.
This is really important feature to prepare for 3D printing.

Please add simple scale function to the Photoscan Standard version.

Feature Requests / Re: Closing holes option when deleting selection
« on: December 09, 2013, 09:45:00 PM »
Because sometimes there are also other holes in the object which i do not want to close.
I know this feature from other CAD (e.g. netfabb) and i find it really useful.

Feature Requests / Re: import mask
« on: December 08, 2013, 01:50:18 PM »

Would be good to have also the option ....

Import Masks for: selected photos

I have turntable and beside the rotation use different angles.
Before placing the object i make one shot for the background masking ... which works pretty well.

For model calculation i need to have all photos in one chunk and therefore it would be good to have the import mask feature also for the selection of photos.
Currently i am using the workaround to adding the photos of different angles to seperate chunks. Then i am importing the masks for active chunk. And finally (after background masking) i am moving all photos back to one chunk before i can start to calculte the pointcloud.

For me it would make sense to add the option "for selected photos" in the mask by background menu.

General / Setting the size of model
« on: December 08, 2013, 01:41:06 PM »
I want to export the 3d model (.obj) for 3d printing.
How is it possible in Photoscan to set the size (in mm?) of the model before exporting to obj format?
Finally i want to be able to print calculated scale in relation to the original object.

Thanks for your help.

Feature Requests / Closing holes option when deleting selection
« on: December 08, 2013, 01:09:38 PM »
For removing parts of the model (e.g. rectangular selection) it should be also possible to optionally select "delete and close hole".

I am using this option e.g. to cut the ground of the model to get staight plate.
Unfortunately after cutting i have a big hole and i need to close it.

Feature Requests / Re: Special features for turntable setup
« on: June 10, 2013, 11:14:21 PM »
However, omitting templates you can just specify background.jpg static filename and this file will be used for every photo in chunk/workspace.
Is that the requested feature?

This was exactly the feature i wanted. Thanks!!!

Coming back to the request 2.
The reason why i am asking this is because sometimes the automatic alignment of the cameras are completely wrong. E.g. picture is aligned 180° to the oposite because front and back of the object on the turntable are quite similar. This could be prevented if i could tell the SW that e.g. pic1 is 0°, pic2 is 15°, pic3 is 30°, pic4 is 45° etc.
Based on this information the SW can ....
a) limit the automatic alignment only to useful combinations (compare pic_30° with pic_15° and pic_45°, but NOT with pic_210°)
b) use this information as additional information for valid/unvalid points. If the SW realizes that the rotation should be e.g. 60° between two cameras while user has specified the cameras should have difference of 15° rotation ... then photoscan can imagin that the alignement does not match.
c) i am not sure about the algorythm but it could be possible that finding matches could be speed up in case the rotation is known. The SW do not need to calculate possible matches over wide area.

This option could be similar to the (free) hugin stitching sw.

Many thanks for your support.
Photoscan is a really great SW.

Feature Requests / Re: Special features for turntable setup
« on: June 09, 2013, 11:34:24 PM »
Sorry, forgot to mention the most important feature.

As already mentioned i am using the import mask "from background".
1st i make on picture from the turntable witout any object. All background is green.
Then i start the sequence with the object on the turntable.

This works really great but i always need to select the "background" picture for every single picture.
Unfortunately it is not possible to select one background image for all cameras in the workspace.

Because of this i would like to request multiselection support for the "from background" feature.
One background image for more/all cameras.

More me this would be the most important missing feature.

THANKS

How much points (total, valid, unvalid ???) are required and how to check how much are missing?

Thanks
