Python and Java API / Filtering point clouds
« on: September 17, 2014, 03:43:37 PM »
Hi all,

Is there a way to filter the point cloud using the Python API, the same way I can using the Edit > Gradual Selection > Image count menu manually?

Thanks!

Feature Requests / Re: Point Cloud classification by color

+1 from me as well!

Something like "paint zones corresponding to each label, then let PhotoScan classify the whole point cloud" could be rather easily implemented with SVMs or other classification algorithms.

The new project failed as well. This time I was able to send the report, save the corrupted project file and get a complete backtrace :

Bug Reports / Crash and corruption when saving large project
« on: June 12, 2014, 07:08:53 PM »
Hi folks,

I've been trying to process a rather large project containing about 45,000 images from one channel of a 752x480 multispectral sensor. I used the Batch Process mode to sequentially align the images, optimize, build the mesh and build the texture. I kept the "Save project after each step" checkbox checked.

Alignment seemed to work well (I could see the point cloud underneath the Batch Processing dialog), but PhotoScan crashed with the following error between alignemnt and optimization, after having saved a corrupted 1.4GB project file :

*** glibc detected *** /home/veloci/photoscan-pro/photoscan: double free or corruption (!prev): 0x00007fe9299b1210 ***
*** glibc detected *** /home/veloci/photoscan-pro/photoscan: malloc(): memory corruption: 0x00007fe929f17190 ***

I unfortunately forgot to save the corrupted project file before I restarted the process with a lower max. feature count in hopes it'll work this time, but I'll have it in a few days if the crash happens again.

In the meantime, can I do anything to help debug this? Are there logs stored by PhotoScan in such a case?

Thanks!

General / Re: PS in the cloud?

Hi maddin!

As far as I know, this is not currently supported at all.

You can (I wouldn't really recommend it right now) write a script that takes orders from a remote client (look for SimpleXLMRPCServer in the Python docs) ; however, you still have to start it manually, it isn't very easy to use, and it still needs a running X11 session.

If you manage to do something about it, I am interested in hearing about it!

Cheers,
Fran?ois-Xavier

Ha, thanks a lot, I hadn't noticed the forum announcement! Works like a charm now ;)

Alexey,

I just tried running the sample code you posted, since it would really help us to be able to create small business-specific UIs running directly in PhotoScan, and PySide is a great tool for that.

However, I can't import PySide at all :

Code: [Select]
>>> from PySide import QtGui
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<console>", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: libshiboken.cpython-33m.so.1.1: Ne peut ouvrir le fichier d'objet partag?: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type

I was under the impression that PhotoScan bundled its own Python modules, but do we have to install some additional dependencies?

Thanks!
Fran?ois-Xavier

(PhotoScan version: 0.9.1 build 1703, running on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS)

Python and Java API / Re: Running headless
« on: July 02, 2013, 01:12:14 PM »
We are really interested in that as well! I'm working on integrating PhotoScan into our image processing chain, and so far everything goes smoothly, but there is still the need for a human hand to run the scripts. Which we'd like to avoid as we have a rather large number of projects. Ideally, only "failed" projects that did not match well should be manually processed.
