Face and Body Scanning / what pattern to use for a multicam setup

I am experimenting with a raspberry pi setup with 30 raspicams for a head scan. The results are reasonable but I would like to improve them by projecting a pattern with a beamer. Do you have any idea which kind of pattern would produce the best results ? Does color in the pattern help or would a simple grid do just fine ?
