Very cool!  My company Punk Office does 3D fashion as well.  Our scanner captures a full body in 1/600th of a second.
This is one of the virtual fashion websites we built for a client http://dyo.100netball.com.au/

Feature Requests / Re: Why still no .NEF support?
« on: June 26, 2017, 05:47:38 PM »
Hello ozRocker,

I've moved this topic to Feature Requests forum. We'll consider NEF format support for the next version updates.

The reason why we do not support native camera formats is related to the fact that most of them is proprietary and may differ even for different camera models from the same manufacturer.

Well Nikon is no small brand and other photogrammetry software supports NEF. I'm confused why they aren't using this excuse

Feature Requests / Why still no .NEF support?

Just wondering, is there a reason why Photoscan won't work with NEF files.  Other photogrammetry software like Reality Capture handles them without any problem.

Face and Body Scanning / Re: Using 3D scan for augmented reality

Yeh, I do that too.  Here's a youtube video of my VR app where I use a scan of a catwalk model https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H-AXF0vMfc

That's for the Oculus Rift, but I can also build VR apps with barrel distortion for mobile, for people that use Google Cardboard or Durovis Dive.

Here's a quick video I put together demonstrating how to scan a person in 3D for use in augmented reality apps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jgup32nHAME

Here's the video that shows the processes I went through from scanning to rigging.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeVJ03tn-98  I'm using Unity3D in the video but with that web page I'm using Babylon.js because its more light-weight and I can get it working on mobile devices at 60fps.  The avatar consists of 20,000 polygons and 25 bones.

I scanned in my female bodybuilder friend and processed it with Photoscan.  I've rigged her up as a kickboxer and put her up on my website, you can see it herehttp://www.punkoffice.com/tori
Just wanted to show peeps how 3D scanned people can be used within websites.  It should work on all browsers and modern mobile devices at 60fps.

I'm currently using diodes for the circuitry that triggers all the cameras.  This  is so the flow of electricity goes from trigger down to cameras in that direction only.  Opto-couplers also do the same thing but they are more expensive components and require power 'cos they are ICs so I'm wondering why people are using them instead of diodes?  I notice Lee Perry Smith from Infinite Realities is using them.  Are they faster than diodes?

I never use the raw files, but now I will.  Thanks for the great tips! :D

I like the talcum powder idea!  :D

ok, what I really want to know is if there is a solution that doesn't involve using a projection system.  For example, what would be the best way to scan someone wearing a black suit?

Face and Body Scanning / Reliance on "features" are too restrictive
« on: June 15, 2015, 01:52:05 AM »
I know photogrammetry works by feature matching, which is the same as panorama.  However, I'm finding this restriction is a real burden.  Scans where a person is wearing black leather boots, or items of clothing that is a plain colour end up with too much missing topology info.  Even large areas of clear skin cause problems.  I'm wondering how other people are dealing with this problem, or are they just giving their customers a list of things they cannot wear and also patching up holes in post-production?  I'm aware that a projection system can help solve this problem but it would effectively halve the shutter speed, or worse.

I have 80 DSLRs with shutter speed 1/200 and a flash that shoots at 1/300 at full power (I can adjust that up to 1/10000 with less power).  Some cameras seem to be getting less light than others even if the cameras are centimetres apart.  Is this cos some cameras get more light from the flash than others?  If so, how do I make sure every camera gets the same amount of light?  I'm thinking I could set the flash to be much faster then fire it on front curtain for the very last camera, but how do I determine what the very last camera is?
