General / Exporting Geo-referenced Individual Photos
« on: June 13, 2015, 10:07:18 PM »
Hello,

I've been requested to produce geo-referenced, single framed images take from a UAV.   There is no desire to have a mosaic just referenced photos.   Can Photoscan create these individual referenced frames based off of UAV geotagged images?

I've attached pictures of what was requested.  I'm trying to evaluate what options in the marketplace can produce this data.

thanks

Thank you for these great suggestions.  I will experiment to see what works the best.  Thanks again!

I'm certain this is because of shiny metallic roof but have no idea how this could be remedied.  Will the point cloud or mesh need to be edited elsewhere?  thanks

Hello,

1) The attached images show 3 individual flight lines.  Two of them are adjacent and appear to be well aligned during sparse point cloud creation.  The third flight line which is nearby but not adjacent to the others appears to have a large amount of skew/tilt when compared with the others.  I also attempted to align the photos in the third flight line independently but they still appear tilted.

2) Another strange thing I'm encountering is that some imported images within the flight lines are showing negative altitude values.  I checked with the source data EXIF and the data appears to all be positive values.  Some of the negative altitude photos will align but others will not.  Is there an explanation for this phenomena?

Thanks

General / How to Improve Roof Surface Texture

Hello,

The attached picture shows a roof with much distortion in the output orthoimage.  Is there a way to improve this detail?  The rest of the image (primarily ground features) appears good.

Thank you

Hi Alexey, after changing the mapping modes I did end up with some better results = thank you.  Another question I have is in regards to the KMZ reference elevation.  When loaded in GE the 3D model sits way above the ground elevation instead of snapping right to the true surface.  Where in the process am I introducing this error?  Thanks so much!

Stihl,  thank you for the feedback!  I will keep experimenting with the altitude and overlap.  I noticed that the altitude data recorded by my Canon SX260 HS in the EXIF was vary inaccurate for some reason.  For instance a programed autopilot mission was flown at 30m but the data in the EXIF showed altitudes ranging from 15m - 100m.  I manually edited the values in the EXIF (setting all to 32m ASL) and reran the process.  This helped clean up much of the error but there is still some minor distortion in the same areas but not nearly as bad.

Thanks again for your help with this issue!

General / Distorted Ortho

Hi All,

I'm not having much luck in creating a nice ortho.  As seen the below picture there is a lot of distortion around the edge of the roof and a double staircase effect.  What is a typical cause of this type of error?  Overlap? Altitude of Photos?  Camera position data?

Thanks so much!

Hi Alexey,  thanks for your prompt reply.  I will experiment with various parameters to improve the results.  Thanks again! mb

General / How to Export Realistic KMZ
« on: December 17, 2014, 10:12:44 AM »
Hi All,

Please excuse this newbie question.  This past week I captured some photos from a UAS for the purpose of creating a 3D model of a property.  I shot the photos vertically and with a varying degrees of obliqueness hoping to render a realist 3D model.  However when I exported the model to KMZ the facades of the house and trees do not contain the same shapes and detail I saw in the dense point cloud.  How can I export this point cloud so that it portrays a more true 3D experience when viewed in Google Earth?  My goal is  to have a realistic 3D fly though experience possible in GE.  Any suggestions for potential solutions using Photoscan or potentially other products would be greatly appreciated.  (3 attachments)

Thanks so much!

General / Laptop Graphics Card
« on: August 29, 2014, 07:08:59 PM »
Hello,

I'm trying to determine the range of possible laptop graphics cards that will work for using Agisoft.  I understand that laptops are not the preferred platform for this type of computation but I need the flexibility provided by a mobile solution.

I understand that the NVIDIA GeForce GTX770m will do the job I'm just wondering what newer mobile graphics card models will also be supported by Agisoft.

Thanks so much for your feedback!
