« on: July 11, 2015, 09:58:48 AM »
Hello Again Folks!

Just to update everybody who helped us in this forum.  I have attached a photo of our final Full Body model.

Thanks! this forum is very helpful.:-)

The only limitation for now is that  we cannot scan our model properly with out his head gear.

Any tips on scanning hair?

Hi James,

It worked! I was able to aligned all the photos properly by disabling the "constraint by mask".  But I noticed Agisoft was also able to generate point cloud of the background.

I cleaned it and continue with the workflow.  Check the improved output.  The white stuff are gone. Not yet perfect but seems ok.

Will my output improve if I was able to align all the photos properly without using "constraint by mask"?  And what is the use of masking the model if I will just disable "constraint by mask".  I saw the improvement but do not know the logic behind the feature.

Cheers,

Borgy

General / Re: Compact Canon CDHK RAW & Lens Distortion
« on: June 30, 2015, 06:15:50 AM »

I did a lot of comparison with my A2200 and it seems that JPG conversion from Canon gave me better points.  I tried some noise reduction tool but I got hole on the nose of my model.  Maybe there is something wrong with the way I process the Raw.

Anyway,  Thanks Chad! Appreciate the feedback.

Hi Alexey,

We tried masking the model but it seems that we are having problems aligning photos if it is masked than unmasked.

Many cameras are not aligned.   Any suggestions how to align it properly if we mask?

Cheers,

Borgy

Hello Guys,

I am glad to have read all your experiences using Raw DNG to JPG.  And Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

I tried shooting in RAW using a CHDK Canon A2300 and compared the result of DNG converted to 100% JPG and the JPG from my canon camera.  I tried 2 batches for the RAW DNG. 1.) unedited converted to JPG and 2.) edited - shadows/highlight contrast but did not touch the noise/ sharpness.  Basing on the output from PS, it seems that JPG from my canon camera has a superior quality than RAW.

How can I maximize the output of my 3d model using RAW DNG file for PS use?

Is the RAW file generated from A2300 less superior than other P&S models?

Any feedback is helpful :-)

Cheers,

Borgy

Hi Alexey,

Do you think I can improve my 3d output by using 3rd party noise filter such us Lightroom or neatimage?

This is the best quality I can get from my canon P&S.

Cheers,

Hi Alexey,

I apologize for the late respond to your question.  I was busy with some other things.
Anyway, please see attached photos.  I hope the information will be helpful for you to analyze what went wrong with the texture.

If you need more info, I am glad to share more details.  Thank you.

@nwman - We are using different point and shoot models with different MP and specs.  That explains the difference in picture quality.

Face and Body Scanning / Quality of mesh using point of shoot
« on: April 11, 2015, 06:04:46 PM »
Hello Friends!

I would like to share with you our progress in our research.  We've been doing point and shoot scans and results were just ok.

We noticed that the model shirt and pants mesh is ok but the skin has many noise.

We have been using canon A2500, A2400, A2300, A2200.

Does anyone think that we can still improve our mesh by using only Point and Shoot?

Thank you in advance  :)

Face and Body Scanning / Why is there a hole?
« on: April 08, 2015, 06:45:28 PM »
Hello Guys!

I hope someone can help us understand the reasons why holes appear on my model.

i am using a 80-point and shoot camera rig with 4 led soft box.  lights are all located above the model.

here are my questions.

1.) does it have anything to do with the shirt's color?  background is white and the model's shirt is plain white.

2.) how about camera position? If I place the camera closer to the area with hole,  will it eliminate holes?

3.) does it have anything to do with light not able to lit model's underarm?

Any comments are very helpful :) ;) :D

Hi Alexey,

Charles and I were able to enhance the quality of our output thanks to your tips.  But there are some noise area around the face and I do not know were it came from.

Please check the attached photo.  Can you help us understand where it came from?

Thank you.

Hello,

My team and I are currently experimenting with 80 canon Point and Shoot camera with different camera models to scan a full human body for education purposes.

We are not really aiming for ultra high quality 3d model.  Our objective is get good texture,  good mesh without holes.

One time I was able to get a good result (but not perfect) mixing different cameras for scanning half body.

But when I tried to do a full body scan, my output was poor.  Please see attached photos.

all cameras are canon.
Camera are all set at 100 iso
We are using 4 steady lights with diffuser

I hope someone can give me tips and advice why my 1st model has a good result and what went wrong to the other model.

I have different camera models with different resolution and pixel size.  Some photos have slight difference in color due to different camera models.  Does it have a big impact on my output?

Cheers,

Borgy
