General / Re: export a cad version of a 3d building survey
« on: November 06, 2020, 04:28:23 PM »
There is no solution to this problem. All CAD programs I know cannot do anything with the 3D data from Metashape.

The only possibility offers e.g. the point cloud data in Autocad. With Autocad on-board tools, the point cloud can be compared with a 3D model without major problems.

Dieter

Importing a high resolution mesh in Autocad is a challenge also for the most powerful workstations. As Dieter said export the pointcloud (e57) from from Metashape, use Recap to create a .rcp  poject and import it in Autocad.

Hi,
try to mask everything around the gun. Only the gun has to be clear.

Hi. I can't see any GCP into your project. If you don't have any GPS target use 2 points in order to scale your model.

Hello,
I don't know if that can help you...
When I truncate coordinates I check whether the digits truncated are the same for all targets...
For example  I have 2 targets with est coordinates:
X1= 536700 and X2=536755.
I can truncate the first 4 digits because they are all the same. the points are within a range of 100 meters

Let's say I have a 3rd target with X3=536800.
The three points are within  range of 1000 meters.
I can truncate only the first 3 digits otherwise X1 and X3 would have the same east coordinate.

Same thing is valid for north and z coordinates.
I hope this can help you.

General / camera accuracy meaning
« on: January 31, 2017, 06:54:19 PM »
Hello everybody.
I still don't have clear the meaning of camera accuracy into the reference panel. Does it refer to the accuracy of the GPS data of the images? If so, 10m would need that each camera position can have a max error of 10 meters. Is this a total XYZ error? Should I encrease it according to the precision of the GPS device? how does this affect the alignment of the images? If I set a wrong parameter could the alignment be unsuccessful?
Thanks.

General / disappeared camera position with GPS data
« on: January 31, 2017, 06:42:16 PM »
Hello everybody,
I'm working on a large dataset (10000 photos). Each photo has coordinates (WGS84 ellipsoidic) in the EXIF data. After I made masks, now I can't see their position into the scene anymore.
I've tried with...clear in the reference panel, switch to local coordinate(m), reset transform, change reference system, import a txt file with camera GPS data. However I can't see them into the scene as when I add them in a new chunk. I would need to display them in photoscan before running the alignment. How can I fix the problem?
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
sorry Stihl, isn't the Poisson Surface Reconstruction used for building the Arbitrary Mesh? Can you explain please.
Thanks

Hi Gabriele,
have you tried to use Meshlab and export it again as a new obj?

General / Re: Select points by shapes (polygons)?
« on: August 11, 2016, 01:50:14 PM »
I would just need to select points by shapes in order to classify them or delete them. The tool "select points by shape" doesn't exist so far. Maybe that might be done by script but I don't have any knowledge of Python.

General / Select points by shapes (polygons)?
« on: August 09, 2016, 01:58:02 PM »
Hello everybody,
I'm working on aerial imagery and I need to remove some features (barracks and vehicles) from the pointcloud in order to create a cleand pointcloud and a DTM.
Identifying such features on photos or orthomosaic is easier. On photos I might use masks and select points by masks, however it's hard to recall what you have masked or not. It's far easier on orthophotomosaic to create polygon shapes around objects, export them, and import them again onto the pointcloud as shapes.
How can I select points by these shapes automatically?
Thanks.

Hi,
I'm not an expert, personally I've never shot with lens wider than 18mm so I can't say if they are too much wide (they look like to me) and affected by too many distortions.
I don't get exactly what's your problem, is the alignement unsuccessfull? do you get a distorted mesh or DEM?
Do you have GCPs for the alignment optimization? If you have used them and still don't have an acceptable result, I would then "crop" (using masks in photoscan) the images keeping only the central part of them, that is affected by smaller distortions, and perform again the alignment. Be sure when masking to keep a good overlap among the images.
In order to use the same mask you might create it on one image, export it and import it for each other image.
I hope this can help you.

Thanks Alexey,
your reply answers some questions. Athough I wonder also weather is good to remove points wich are projected by only 2 photos using the gradual selection and, as far as I noticed, are responsible of noise.
It has been already said in other discussions to avoid to remove too many tie points (10% some,1/5 others). Usually I don't remove more than 10%-15%, but I wonder if I can remove up to 50% in such a case:
1) I have a large sparse point cloud obtained by a higher number of keypoints and 0 limit of tie points into the alignement process
2) the tie points to get cancelled are well spread over all the project area
3) I keep a large number of tie points and checking they are well distributed in all photos. I might use the "Photo>View Points" to do that.
Thanks

Bug Reports / Re: Export Model
« on: July 30, 2016, 02:06:52 PM »
Thank you Alexey,
using positive values It works. I thought I had to specify negative values.
So into the shift tool we have to write positive values: when we export the mesh (or the pointcloud) the values are substracted, when we import the mesh the values are added.
Thanks again for your help.
