Check last sentence with Alexey's quote

Hi, I've had speed processing problems with Photoscan versions above 1.3.0 (about double or more the processing time for the same projects), so I tested 1.4.0 with dissapointing results... About 35hr to produce a 4mil. point cloud on an i7 6700k with 32gb ram and an r7 radeon. Do you have the processing log or at least Chunk info with the parameters and time spent from the previous version, where the processing time was adequate?

According to the log the depth filtering took very long time and it could be related to the excessive overlap, when most of the cameras are overlapping with a lot of neighbors.

I will provide this, since I can reprocess the job with 1.3.0. You're right there is probably much unneeded overlap in this project (it was an early one)
Hello cadm8,

In the version 1.3.0 the number of pairs for the depth filtering has a strict threshold: 50 pairs, in the later updates the limit has been removed.

Hello to everybody. Is there a way to mark a few photos with the relevant GCP, then press update and then transform every other marker in the photoset (after selecting filter by markers) from blue flags to green ones? Most of the times marking 5-10 photos is enough for small datasets so I was wondering if it is possible to mass mark the rest of the markers too.

Alexey thank you for taking the time to check my dataset. I've rerun the data by realigning without GCPs, only exifs since that is what I sent you, in order to check it against your results, but I have to say that still the result from the point cloud isn't as clear as yours is. When your refer to "model cropping to filter out the surroundings", do you mean restricting the bounding box? As far as the point cloud, there are a lot of times that we need it for measuring reasons or overlaying data in general

Hello all, I would like to ask whether there is a certain workflow that we have to follow to reconstruct structures like high antennas or generally type of models that have thin and long details. We're having big trouble in modelling them because of the noise that is being attached on the structures. There was an older thread about this matter which I cannot seem to be able to locate now. I'm attaching two screenshots of comparison between Metashape and another photogrammetric software. Keep in mind that we've tried masking the antenna, but there was no better result

Hey guys, a quick question; I recently discovered that for finished project with many photos and GCPs, I ve forgotten to deselect cameras in the reference pane. Would photoscan use the inherited better accuracy of GCPs and ignore exif data when optimizing and building cloud? Would this mistake have any effect in processing? We have had cross checks with our GPS and all surveyed points are horizontally and vertically OK

-update-: I ran a cloud compare...comparison and the clouds are identical; with and w/o image deselection...

Ran recently a quarry survey with dense due to elevations GCPs and cross checked by surveying a profile line with our RTK GPS. Photoscan succeeded (as usually) in reconstructing the model within the GCP rule accuracies. The point cloud points  ;D were within the expected margins

That's exactly what I hadn't realized up until now. I was expecting for every node to follow its own fine level distribution. So, is there a way to tell photoscan that a specific node should only for example build depth maps, or only match photos, or both and nothing more?

Question about node tasks; I'm deselecting a certain node from all tasks but building depth maps and yet it is trying to participate in aligning photos, where it is being very slow and slowing down the project. How can that happen since I'm deselecting that node from inside photoscan network properties?

Hi Alexey and sorry for digging up this old thread. I'm creating and exporting a mask on a single photo, within an aligned chunk. When I import this mask and apply it to all (the remaining) cameras, the mask isn't adjusting at all, ie not rotating and fitting. Is there another way for this to work? Thanks!

Hi scr1tch,

Here is the workflow.
1. Generate the mask you want for one single picture in PhotoScan using the SELECTION TOOLS in the main icon bar

2. Then TOOLS > EXPORT > EXPORT MASKS. Save as a single channel mask image.

3. TOOLS > IMPORT > IMPORT MASK. Choose these settings: FROM FILE, REPLACEMENT and APPLY TO ALL CAMERAS. You then have to enter the filename of the mask you stored in step 1, e.g. mask.jpg. Then press OK.

4. A window will pop up asking you to select the FOLDER where the mask.jpg file is stored in. Navigate to that folder an then click the SELECT FOLDER button.

DONE. Your mask should now have been applied to all images. Note that this workflow will apply the same mask to every picture, e.g. very useful to ignore 'overlays' in images.

Hey SAV, I must be doing something wrong, I'm exporting the mask from one photo and importing it by applying to all cameras, yet the mask isn't orientating to the photos...

Set your PCs up with static IPs, enable network processing in Photoscan settings and read the manual regarding commands. It works as described.
