General / DEM with DJI Phantom 3 / Photoscan
« on: June 29, 2017, 01:18:15 PM »
Hey All,

What are your experiences (or best practice) for the recording of terrains for dem’s?

•   Fly altitude:
•   Overlap
•   Which app do you use for terrain recording

I have started with one terrain about 4 ha (arable land 234m x 175m).

Flight altitude: 50 m and overlap of 80 % / 65 % (around 550 photos)

DEM results (compared to the gps-data of the gcp) :

•   without GCP - continuous inaccuracy of about 4m.
•   with GCP- difference of  0,1 m on average

In this case 6 GCP were placed. Perhaps that are not enough to get a better result.

I was wondering which settings could be better (fly higher, overlap 80 % / 80 % ...?).

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.

hi,

same question here.

We have the choice between 2x 6 GB Palit GTX1060 Dual or 1x 8GB Palit GTX1080
in combination with an Intel i7-6900K proecessor and 128 GB RAM.

What would you prefer?

Thanks and regards
Phil

General / XYZ Export and some beginner questions
« on: January 26, 2017, 02:43:41 PM »
Hey Guys!

I`ve started with Photoscan Prof. to create 3D Models of areas like biogas - or wastewater treatment plants with a dji phantom 3.

Further more I would like to create terrain models to calculate the area and volume measurement and to export those models from photoscan in other software to simulate high water events.

Therefore the terrains must be really detailed e.g. the high of curbsides, floor unevenness.

Perhaps you have some beginner tips and could response to some of my questions.

Do I need for these models gcp’s always?
I note that the altitudes are not correct in the models.

Which export formats of phtoscan support x y z datas?

If I collect the photos from a terrain e.g. with 2 different flight altitudes could I make a 3 flight of a special area to get this area more detailed ? or could this be a problem in the  3d modelling?

Thanks in advance for your support!

BR
Phil
