Bug Reports / Re: Emergency! File "can't save" anymore!
« on: January 16, 2019, 05:05:52 PM »
There is no images0.zip folder unfortunately.

My .files folder consists of 8 folders (0, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, project).. folders 3-10 have nothing but chunk, dense_cloud, elevation, point_cloud, thumbnails, and frame folders..

folder 0 has a orthomosaic folder, but its empty and when I try to open it, I get an error that the file or directory is damaged and not readable. I tried to delete the folder, but it doesn't work.

About the copying issue: I am using Windows 10 and the project is closed while I am trying to move it. I don't even have PhotoScan open when trying to move the files. Could it be, that it doesnt move, because the orthomosaic folder is corrupted?

Thanks for your help, Alexey

Hello Alexey,

I tried to fix the problem, but I still couldn't come up with a solution.

So, the .files folder is 32 GB. Related to this, another issue has occured. I re-ran the process with lower specifications, was able to save the project (still without the orthomosaics!) on my harddrive, but now when I want to move the project to my computer, it simply won't react.

I don't even get an error message or anything. I tried  copy&paste and cut&paste but there is simply no reaction. Every single other file on that harddrive is moveable, but not my project, so the issue is definitely not related to the computer or harddrive. All I need are those orthomosaics now, so I would be happy if I could somehow just create them from my harddrive or move them to my computer first.

You said I might remove the orthorectified images. Will this not mess with any of the data, such as sparse cloud, dense point cloud, or DEM? If not, how can I remove the orthorectified images from the .files folder? I have never done this before, so I want to be sure, before I delete something wrong and destroy everything.

Hello Alexey,

The hard drive still has 700 GB of available space. Could it be that this is not enough?

In addition: It is also not possible to build orthomosaics! When starting the batch process, it fails all of them, eventhough dense point clouds and DEMs were already succesfully generated. Do you have any suggestions?

EDIT: when I try to manually create each orthomosaic at a time, I get an error saying "can't write pyramid data". Certainly, a single orthomosaic out of 366 images with 460 Million points cant be over 700 GB large right?

Bug Reports / Emergency! File "can't save" anymore!

Hello everybody,

I started a very long process for 7 chunks, which now contain dense clouds with 0.8 - 1 billion points each! Today, the process finished, I have beautiful dense clouds and DEMs now, but when I try to save the project, it simply says "can't save file".

The respective .files folder is in the same directory as the .psx. I have tried to create a new .psx and it will work for like a minute, but then abort with the same error.

Could this be, because my project is too large now? Is there any solution to save my project?

Thank you very much!

EDIT: also one of the chunks won't even allow me to export the DEM! It says "Can't write image: C:/Users/...." .. This must be because of the size right? Is there a solution?

General / Re: Why can I not select 'Build DEM'?

Thank you very much, Alexey.

I fixed the problem, but I am still confused about why I had it in the first place, because my GCPs had geographic coordinates within a defined coordinate system. So the solution for my problem was to enable the boxes for camera reference and marker reference in the reference settings..

As this is the first time, that this has happened to me: Does this step has to be done manually each time in the new version? With 1.3 I never had to manually check these boxes.

Thanks for helping so quick

General / Why can I not select 'Build DEM'?
« on: February 07, 2018, 02:45:18 PM »
Hello,

I just updated to 1.4 and face a problem I have never seen before:

I create orthomosaics of aerial pictures and my usual workflow goes like this: import images, allign photos, import GCPs, Point Cloud Optimization, Dense Cloud Generation, DEM generation.. and so on.

I have done all steps until DEM generation, but I am now unable to select the 'Build DEM..'" function. I have done several orthomosaics already and usually I was always able to create a DEM after having generated a dense cloud, so I really have no clue what could have happened. Could this be related to 1.4?

Can somebody give me reasons why I cannot select 'Build DEM..'? What I noticed during my work flow:

I had problems with point cloud optimization for this specific chunk. The input images are relatively low resolution, because I want to use this one as a mere background image for reference. I deleted points with high reconstruction uncertainty, high reprojection error and low projection accuracy, but I did NOT optimize cameras, because it completely ruined my alignment as soon as I tried.. which is due to the low quality of the input images I assume.

Could the missing Camera Optimization be responsible?

Thank you very much

General / Re: Is it possible to 'overwrite' mesh?

Thank you very much for your response.

This helps me a lot, but I have a follow-up question:

Is it even necessary for me to create a mesh? Sofar I assumed, that is what I have to do in order to get a high resolution orthomosaic.

Could it be enough for me to:
1) Allign photos
2) Create dense cloud
3) Create DEM from dense cloud
4) Create orthomosaic from DEM

If you recommend using the dense cloud as the source for the DEM, then is there actually a point for me to generate an arbitrary mesh? As far as I can tell, that would be not necessary for me, as I am mostly interested in very accurate orthomosaics and DEMs.

Thank you very up for clearing up confusions!

General / Is it possible to 'overwrite' mesh?

Hello,

I am a student working with Agisoft for about 1.5 years now. My first question I want to post on this board is rather simple, but I can't help but wondering: what happens if I calculate the mesh twice within a project?

For example: I've generated a dense cloud, calculated a height field mesh, calculated a DEM and was just about to generate a orthomosaic, before I remembered: Hold on, I actually need a arbitrary mesh.

So i abborted the orthomosaic generation and started calculating a arbitrary mesh. After this is done: will the height field mesh that was calculated before, be basically overwritten? Is it ok to do it the way I did, or do I need to generate the dense cloud a second time?

As a further question: Would you recommend me to calculate the DEM from the arbitrary mesh or the dense cloud? For my project I am generating high resolution orthomosaics, in order to do volumetric measurements, which I need to be extremely precise (error within 1 dm3). Are the mosaics more accurate when calculated from the dense cloud or the arbitrary mesh?

Thank you so much in advance!
