Feature Requests / Marker merge by name
« on: October 15, 2019, 01:53:56 AM »
Hello,

It would be very useful if there was an option to merge markers with the same name automatically. I came across a Python script to do it in a tedious way which will suffice for now, but would be great if this was automated. The need for this emerges from automatic coded target detection creating duplicates.

Cheers!

Thanks again Alexey.

When they load correctly with orientation angles, should the camera positions in the model still be just points (without indicating orientation like it does after alignment)? In the reference pane, the orientations appear to load in correctly.

I've also recaptured my dataset with slightly better images and a different coded target approach and had more success.

P.s. Not related to this issue, but I just wanted to say fantastic work to whoever fixed the running out of RAM problem in one of the last few versions of Metashape. For a long time I couldn't run higher resolution reconstructions even with 32GB of RAM. Now it's been happily crunching away big datasets without crashing. Previously I had many occasions when I had been running a reconstruction for a long time only to have it crash right near at the end. That fix has got to be one of the biggest improvements of late (assuming the fix was with metashape and not a driver issue).

Feature Requests / User Assisted Coded Target Identification
« on: October 11, 2019, 02:44:35 AM »
Hi Agisoft Team,

It would be very useful if there was a way to increase sensitivity of coded target detection and ask the user to confirm if each questionable detection is a target. You could show the user the predicted coded target shape alongside the questionable target detection in the photo and the user could confirm if it is a target. Through this data you could also train a neural net to improve automatic detection. You could have an option for the user to contribute the training data to you to refine the model further. This training data could be a small crop of the target in the original image with appropriate tags.

Cheers.

Bump. Despite the reference error for GPS and orientation being set quite low, Metashape seems to ignore these settings and severely misalign photos (upside down or sideways in some cases).

General / How to provide constraints on image poses?
« on: October 08, 2019, 04:10:02 AM »
Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to guide the image matching due to some known constraints for the camera orientation?
I'm using a DJI Phantom 4 with a gimbal. Unless I'm in the process of crashing, it is a solid assumption that the camera orientation has near zero roll and pitch is somewhere between looking straight ahead or down. I am getting misaligned images which could potentially be avoided if I could set those constraints somehow.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again  :)

EDIT: I should also mention that the roll, pitch and yaw values are provided along with the GPS information. Perhaps there is a setting I've missed which allows us to set how much we trust this information?

Bug Reports / Re: Filter Photos by Point possibly not working
« on: September 23, 2019, 01:40:06 AM »
Hello Alexey,

Thank you very much for the clarification. I've worked out what I was doing wrong. I was looking in the wrong place for the selected photos.

Thanks again,
Sean

Bug Reports / Filter Photos by Point possibly not working
« on: September 22, 2019, 05:58:11 AM »
Hello Agisoft Team,

I'm trying to use Filter Photos by Point to find which photos contribute to the misaligned section of a point cloud, however, it doesn't seem to be working as I would expect.

Is the correct way to use this function to select some points from the dense or sparse cloud, then right click and click "Filter Photos by Point"?
The way I am expecting it to work, is that it would select the photos which gave me those selected points (then I can then reset the alignment of those photos or delete). Is my understanding correct? If so, it doesn't appear to be working at all.

I'm using Metashape 1.5.4.

Thanks in advance,
Sean

Python and Java API / Re: Using Stereo Cameras with Photoscan
« on: May 17, 2018, 05:15:54 AM »
Thank you for the help Alexey, much appreciated! The Python script worked perfectly.

One other question if you don't mind, I have potentially 10000 image pairs from each flight, however I usually cut it down to every Nth image for processing. Is there any better way to use Photoscan to choose the most suitable/good quality image pairs from a large set rather than taking every 20th image pair for example?

Thanks again!

Python and Java API / Using Stereo Cameras with Photoscan
« on: May 16, 2018, 02:56:12 PM »
Hello,

I am new to Photoscan and I'm looking for a way to use stereo image pairs in Photoscan. I am using a Stereolabs ZED camera with a baseline of 120mm. I am hoping for a way to create a scaled point cloud with the use of the known baseline.

I have found some suggestions for manually using scale bars, however I'm not sure how I can do this efficiently for a large data set.

I have a few hundred pairs of images named as "left_000XXX.png" and "right_000XXX.png" where XXX is the image number.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
