All coordinate systems are defined the same way (25832), and the normal workflow finishes without any error.

I tried to edit the DEM within Metashape itself with the draw polygon/draw line feature.

Hello all together,

I got problems modelling my DTM/DEM properly for orthophoto generation in the area of bridges. Here a short description of my workflow:

1. flight with LiDAR and RGB
2. Process LiDAR (strip adjustment and classification)
3. Do foto aligmment in metashape and control georeferencing via gcp
4. Import DTM as tif / Import DTM as a pointcloud (tried both, same error)
5. Edit DTM to kick out false classified points and clean up bridge areas

While trying to perform step 5 and using some kind of interpolation method I get the following Mistake "Vertical Datum ouf of range",  a normal fill with a fixed height however works...
All my Data (trajectory, GCPs, DTM/pointcloud) is in UTM32 (EPSG:25832) with geoid heights (GCG2016)

for the general part:
How to do handle bridges in Orthofotos?
Do you edit the point cloud?
Do you edit the DEM/DTM with brakelines?
Do you insert Brakelines as lines/shapes?

Im looking forward to hear your ideas :D

UgCS does limit on 99 waypoints per polygon, too. But you can define multiple polygons per mission, so that shouldn't be a big deal.

General / Import Coordinates for automatically detected markers from file
« on: January 06, 2022, 05:25:39 PM »
Hi guys,

I am currently experimenting on including coded 14-bit markers as GCPs into my UAV-Workflow. The automatic detection works quite good, even if I don't get the exact position I get at least a very good approximation  :)

All autodetected markers appear as "target X" without any coordinates in the reference pane. In my test i replaced every north, east and elevation value with the coordinates from GNSS-measurements via copy & paste. Is there any way to load the coordinates from a file and replace all "empty" markers at once? Or should I import the reference coordinates first and then run the autodetect?

Hey Krister,

it sounds a bit like you are mixing some things up. First of all your GCPs have nothing to do with the alignment process. During the alignment process Metashape matches the pictures based on equal points in mutlple pictures. In the generic preselection Metashape downscales your pictures and searches for pictures which were taken from neighboured positions. When you have approximiations for position and angle of camera (like you have in the EXIF of your drone photos) you can select preference preselection so Metashape already knows which picture is next to which an do the aligning process faster. So you always want to chose reference preselection with your drone data.

The GCPs come only into play after the aligning process: You mark them in the aligned photos to convert in the desired coordinate systeme, optimize the camera locations and estimate your camera calibration.
