General / DEM elevation for underwater photogrammetry
« on: June 17, 2025, 08:24:10 AM »
Hi everyone,

I am not very new to Metashape, however, I am struggling with some functionalities I have not used much before.

I created two 3D models of an area under water, which constitutes wreckage of a small ship surrounded by a sandy sea floor. No control points, no absolute XYZ coordinates. The models come out perfectly. I then create orthomosaics, also great result.

Now I build the DEMs, also works great. However, I want to add elevation to the DEMs manually. I've played around with markers and GCPs but I can't seem to get this to work. Can someone explain to me step by step how to go about this?

The reason I'm doing this is because I want compare the two DEMs and see how the sea floor has changed over time. For this I obviously need to enter the elevation (depth) of a fixed point on the wreckage in both models.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm wondering if Metashape can already support GPU-based texturing on Apple Silicon chips? So far, I have not had any luck with that on my M1 macbook pro. It always uses just the CPU for texturing, and does so extremely slow... Am I missing something?

Alexey,

Do you know when GPU-based texturing on Apple M1 will be available in Metashape? The entire process is super fast on M1, but texturing using CPU only takes a long time...

Bug Reports / M1 Pro issue
« on: May 01, 2022, 03:57:29 AM »
Hey everyone,

I am trying to build a model using the latest version of Metashape (1.8.3.14298). I have a 2021 Macbook Pro with M1 Pro chip. I selected the chip's GPU in Preferences.

When building the texture, I get the following error message: "Failed to initialize context. Reason: Failed to load vulkan library!"

It then proceeds building the texture, but it does so extremely slow. I think it's only using the CPU in this case, and not the GPU. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this?

Thanks!
