General / Automatic Marker Detection
« on: February 13, 2024, 12:48:41 AM »
Hello, I would like to create GCPs that would allow me to use the automatic GCP detection feature because the red-orange Xs painted on the ground seem to be absolutely ineffective. I still rely on the old-fashioned way of manually designing them one by one. I would like to speed up the process. I've seen AprilTags on the internet, but it seems that Agisoft does not support them. What would be the most effective way to create GCPs that could be automatically recognized by the software? Please note that this is for large-scale land surveying, so the small printable coded targets from Agisoft probably cannot be considered. Are there surveyors who use the automatic detection function in some way? If yes, with what type of target: X, black and white square, black and white circle?

Thanks!

General / Chunk workflow for topography NEED HELP!
« on: January 30, 2024, 12:35:58 AM »
Hello everyone, I've been using Agisoft for a while for land surveying. I've never had to deal with merge chunk or split chunk before. However, I would like to be able to perform manipulations that require these operations. I've watched some videos, but it never works or only partially. Let me explain: I need to update certain maps that have changed over time to get the correct levels for calculations, etc. I have two almost identical drone flights referenced with GCPs. I cut out a dense cloud where the terrain has changed – simplifying it, I create a polygon and delete the points inside. This results in the first photo attached.

In my second project, I import the polygon from the first project to the second cut and keep the data of the desired surface (photo 2). Then I align chunk / merge chunk, and it worked only once with the point cloud (photo 3), but no mesh, etc. When I create the texture or the model, it patches the hole. In short, I spent the day working on it.

For the Chunk pros, could you explain to me or direct me to the right methods to perform this kind of work?

Thanks ALL

"I have also been requesting this feature for a long time, and it has never been taken into consideration." :(

Hi José,

Seriously, you'll have to explain to me how you manage to make the line look like in your "snap" image on the terrain. On my end, I can only see the beginning and the end sticking to the mesh, unless I click multiple times through this line, which makes my line not straight at all.

As for the color on the mesh, it's the same principle. I need to have a colored surface, for example in orange, in my model. It's possible to apply a color at the moment, but the color doesn't adhere to the mesh, it only extends from one corner to the other. See the attached photo.

Please explain to me how to make my line automatically adhere to the mesh.  Alexey Pasumansky ????

Cheers,
Joel

Hello,

I am a surveyor in quarries and mines, and we use Agisoft Metashape to calculate our volumes and for planning purposes. I have mentioned my issue to your technical support team in writing several times, but it seems that no one has taken the time to address my request. We are three users with three professional licenses, and we are somewhat disappointed with this situation.

The software is excellent for modeling our terrains and blasting benches. However, when it comes to calculations, it becomes problematic. As I have mentioned before, there is a lack of a "SNAP LINE" function when we draw our polygons or polylines. It is crucial that these elements adhere to the mesh, as well as when using a polygon. The lines need to recognize each other to avoid overlaps. An error of 0.1 m over a length of 100 m by a depth of 30 m can quickly lead to a significant volume discrepancy!

Furthermore, the color of the "solid fill" must stick to the mesh, as the current result with the "Color solid fill" does not provide a professional outcome, since this color only extends from one vertex to another on the mesh.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope that these suggestions will be taken into consideration in future updates

General / Exporting DEM/Ortho with elevation Z ?
« on: May 09, 2023, 09:34:06 PM »

Can someone explain to me how to export an Ortomosaic and a DEM (.tiff) so that I can open them in QGIS or Global Mapper with elevation data (Z) every time, even when I only have the XY coordinates?
thank

Hello, is it possible to create (build plane) a surface in a model where we can specify any elevation, as shown in the attached screenshot?
Thank!

Bug Reports / Shortcut key to next image zoom off
« on: March 23, 2023, 09:45:51 PM »
Can someone explain to me why, since the last version (2.0.1) update, when I pin my GCP and hit my shortcut (Z), it goes to the next image but also zooms out? Before, when I hit Z, the image would change but keep the zoom level that I was working with. Now, I have to hit Z after zooming in on the image and pinning my marker, which is time-consuming when I have 10 GCPs.

Thank for the help

General / Good Texture parameter/blurry texture??
« on: March 22, 2023, 06:30:33 PM »
Hello,

I'm doing surveying and photogrammetry with drone for volume calculation in mines and quarries. I've noticed a loss of quality in my textures when upgrading to version 2.0.1.15986. The textures appear blurry. I'm wondering if I may have accidentally changed a setting. I've always left the settings at default, except for the texture size.

By default MAPPING MODE is set to: KEEP UV. Is this the correct setting?, or would it be more appropriate to select GENERIC?

Thank for the help !

Feature Requests / Be able to put a scale on a orthomosiac and model
« on: March 02, 2023, 10:36:30 PM »
It is a way to put a rule scale on the orthomosaic and model for a printout... ? if not it would be great!
On the orthomosaic we see a scale but we cant change the number manually.
The good old vintage black and white scale bar

General / GCP and marker problem
« on: March 02, 2023, 07:10:46 PM »
Can someone help me with this? When I run my batch process, I perform the following steps: alignment, placing markers on the ground control points (GCPs), optimization, dense cloud, mesh, texture, DEM, and orthomosaic. When I don't activate the "load camera location accuracy from XMP metadata" function, everything works fine, and the markers are well aligned with the GCPs once the processing is complete. However, when I activate this function because my drone is RTK and I place my markers on the GCPs once the processing is complete, I often have a significant error on the orthomosaic. The marker is never precisely on my ground control point (GCP).
.
Exemple of what i get when XMP meta data is check in the photo marker and gcp are not perfectly aligned

Bug Reports / Re: Export DEM .TIFF Z problem.
« on: February 24, 2023, 04:36:12 AM »
Hello Alexey, I finally found the solution to my problem. 1 - Import t tiled model  2 - Import DEM, then orthomosaic. The reverse doesn't work. All coordinate is in  NAD8383 (csrs) mtm zone 7 with the correct Z.
if your dont import a tiled model or normal model before, the Z will be wrong.

Cheers

Bug Reports / Export DEM .TIFF Z problem.
« on: February 21, 2023, 10:52:57 PM »
Hi,

Can someone explain to me why the altitudes of my DEM or Ortho file no longer correspond after I export it as a .tiff file? In my project (see screenshot), I have a terrain with a GCP #1 altitude of 222.868 m. However, once I export the .tiff file and open it in the viewer, the altitude at the location of my GCP #1 is displayed as 207.600 m when I use the ruler tool. This means there is a difference of 15.268 meters. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Can someone help me ensure that the .tiff file I give to the client has the correct elevations?

Thank
