Bug Reports / Ambient occlussion messed up by block model

I had to build my mesh partitioned into blocks due to bad allocation error (not enough memory?). After that, I merged the blocks and got one single mesh model that appartently is clean and appears to be gapless in the seams.
However, the mesh topology in the seams is faulty and that causes these ugly black strips on the occlussion map.
The merge blocks operation needs some rework in my opinion

I understand the convenience of flying higher, but keep in mind that long lenses come with some inconveniences. More atmosphere in between the camera and the ground, and worse sensitivity to depth. So if the gsd is the same (long lens at higher altitude equals wide lens in lower), generaly one can expect a more robust bundle adjustment and better 3D accuracy with a moderatley wide lens.
Additionally, have you considered a variable angle gimbal and one single oscillating camera? the configuration of two synced cameras overlapping 10% only to widen the field of view will hardly be beneficial in any other respect, so I wonder if it is not just more expensive than a movable single camera. Have you seen the so called "smart oblique" mode allowed by DJI Zenmuse P1?

Well I don't see major cons, but why 85mm and not a wider lens instead? Is there a need for ultra hight ground resolution? I guess it's going to be a manned aircraft borne solution. Sounds interesting.

Pix4D, the main competitor is adding Gaussian splatting for high quality rendering. Agisoft, is your turn to step further into it to keep leading. I’ve been playing with GS for a while and I am beyond impressed.

select the car and a margin around, delete, then use fill holes. I really dont like the fill holes tool, because it produces a closure with ugly large triangles and it is not sensible to context, but kinda works, and you can later use smooth tool.
I would suggest to have a look of Virtual-Surveyor, it does much much better and just with one click,

As for the orthomosaic clipping by boundary - we are not yet able to reproduce the problem. Do you observe it in any project?
How the original (not clipped) orthomosaic looks like, what is the source image format and bit depth? Any additional information related to the project specifics might be helpful.

Hello Alexey. Believe it or not, now I cannot get the orthomasaic madness to occur again.
the not clipped one is this:

I created a dupicate applying clipping and duplicating orthophotos, and got the one I sent yesterday with the blocky blacked out areas. By doing the very same today, the black thing never comes up. why on earth? so for the moment, you can forget the weird issue.

Hi,

I capture nadir and obliques images (30-45°) during the same flight and process them all together in metashape.

What is the purpose of setting capture distance in the reference pane and which distance should I put, drone height above the ground or the oblique distance according to the angle of the camera?

Does it improve reconstruction or accuracy?

Hi Vincent: I guess it is required to estimate the overlap with oblique images. it will tell Metashape if two images will actually overlap or not. if they do not, why should we try to find matches?
If the value is left blank, Metashape will ignore shoting angles. So is part of the reference preselection strategy and can reduce alignment times. I don't think it can change anything in terms of accuracy directly, but if it is entered wrong, it can lead to some images not aligned or to a less robust structure because some links may be ignored.

Was the point cloud generated in Metashape based on images or was it imported from another source as a laser scan?

5 oriented scans plus 3 panoramic images aligned. All good,
Merded scans into one point cloud and then colorised. All good
export point cloud packed as potree zip, all good.
export as LAS no color
export as LAZ no color
export as E57. color is fine but there is a part of the cloud missing.

Point cloud export problems:
I have a dense cloud colored in my project.
Exported with colors in LAS gives no colors
Exported with colors in LAZ gives wrong colors
Exportes with colors in E57 coes out slightly trimmed
Exported with color as PLY and no program seems able to open, even metashape crashes.

Saving the project as psz 1.8  gives an error I've never seen before

Saving animation video as mp4 H-264 ends wih a crash. (Catastrophic error)

Can you please specify the OS version that you are using and the capture video parameters: resolution of the output video, track length in seconds, frame rate?

Win11pro 24H2, AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, 65gb ram, 2x RTX4080super.
Video length 30s
Framerate 60fps, 4K
