Feature Requests / Re: Laser scan + pictures integration
« on: June 12, 2024, 12:41:43 PM »
Hello,

when importing E57 from RTC360, the registration is preserved, as you correctly mentioned.

After you import pics and follow the Agisoft document you mentioned, then it happens that laser scans are unlocked and the combined pointcloud + pics is georeferenced with positions from pics, so registration of laser scans is lost.
There is workaround (a python file that could be requested) from Agisoft allowing, using GCPs, to register laser-scans again, but it is not state-of-art solution and we hope that a new method will be implemented in next versions.

For what i know, there is only 1 software that operates combined photogrammetry with laser scans that is 3Dflow Zephyr, but it is really really slow and results are not so enthusiastic: I am pretty much sure that once MS will implement this new features, it will be top peformance solution as usual!

Feature Requests / Laser scan + pictures integration
« on: May 27, 2024, 06:16:59 PM »
Hello,

i find the integration of Laser Scans into MS a very nice step head, but actually it misses a couple of very important features in our opinion.
- Now Laser scans can be registered with nearly millimetric accuracy in 3rd party software if using Leica RTC360 or FARO or RIEGL devices, and it is also possible to export an orthomosaic from Laser Scan processing software, but it will always result "dotted"

-Now MS allows to import pictures and spread these onto laser scans, to obtain a nice FULL orthomosaics, especially if working on facades or vertical surfaces.

1) The big problem is that importing already registered scans into MS now results in loosing registration, so GCPs are required to georeference the cloud again: this is just a waste of time and decrease the overall accuracy of the project, since laser scans were already registered to millimeter accuracy. We would greatly appreciate a workflow that allow us to import laser scan by preserving their registration.

2) Once suggestion at point 1 will be implemented, we would like to implement also a second features: now to setup the projection plane for facade orthomosaic is everything but intuitive (it is required to tick 3 points on the surface and define the plane like this): it would be much better to import the projection plan from SHP or DXF, allowing the user to exact define the projection plane and angle.

We hope these features (primarily at point 1) will be implemented as soon as possible.

Kind regards

Mohabon,

according to your canali datum definition, I created a prj file that can be imported into PhotoScan. Note thta the 7 parameters have sign inverted as in your frinition it was specified as From WGS84 and not TOWGS84....

Attached is the file... when importing into PS, it created a user defined Coordinate system called Geographic Coordinate System,

Maybe this can help,

Lovely!

It does work perfectly.

Now i wpould like to add also a PROJECTION and things are not easy aswell. Can you also fix that syntax by any chance?

Thanks and kind regards

I apologise for my ignorance, but i dont exactly understand.

Maybe a numeric example could clean the sky!

This is standard project file for Vietnam i can save from Photoscan.

PROJCS["VN-2000 / UTM zone 48N",GEOGCS["VN-2000",DATUM["Vietnam 2000",SPHEROID["WGS 84",6378137,298.257223563,AUTHORITY["EPSG","7030"]],TOWGS84[-192.873,-39.382,-111.202,-0.00205,-0.0005,0.00335,0.0188],AUTHORITY["EPSG","6756"]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0,AUTHORITY["EPSG","8901"]],UNIT["degree",0.017453292519943,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9102"]],AUTHORITY["EPSG","4756"]],PROJECTION["Transverse_Mercator",AUTHORITY["EPSG","9807"]],PARAMETER["latitude_of_origin",0],PARAMETER["central_meridian",105],PARAMETER["scale_factor",0.9996],PARAMETER["false_easting",500000],PARAMETER["false_northing",0],UNIT["metre",1,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9001"]],AUTHORITY["EPSG","3405"]]

This is customized project file with customized 7 parameters (in glow) of Molodensky-Helmert i would like to use. (I simply changed the TOWGS84 parameters.

PROJCS["VN-2000 / UTM zone 48N",GEOGCS["VN-2000",DATUM["Vietnam 2000",SPHEROID["WGS 84",6378137,298.257223563,AUTHORITY["EPSG","7030"]],TOWGS84[210.1472,106.1365,-106.0101,2.444739015,-1.854031022,0.048485651,12.02226514],AUTHORITY["EPSG","6756"]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0,AUTHORITY["EPSG","8901"]],UNIT["degree",0.017453292519943,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9102"]],AUTHORITY["EPSG","4756"]],PROJECTION["Transverse_Mercator",AUTHORITY["EPSG","9807"]],PARAMETER["latitude_of_origin",0],PARAMETER["central_meridian",105],PARAMETER["scale_factor",0.9996],PARAMETER["false_easting",500000],PARAMETER["false_northing",0],UNIT["metre",1,AUTHORITY["EPSG","9001"]],AUTHORITY["EPSG","3405"]]

Could you please make me understand what is to be changed in order to have this file good to be imported? Actually i have tried many solution, but nothing seems to be working.

Kindest regards,

-M

Please also make sure to remove authority records for PROJCS, GEOGCS and DATUM records as default transformation parameters will be loaded otherwise.

Hello and thanks,

Could you please specify what you mean with "remove authority records fro PROJCS etc"?
Should i remove the entire line or just change number inside? It is not clear at all.

Thanks and kind regards

General / Satellite Image WV3 - Working with PS?
« on: April 17, 2015, 01:29:36 PM »
Hello,

anyone knows if PS Pro is able to process the new 30 cm resolution
DigitalGlobe WorldView-3 Stereo Satellite Photos? We have a 240 sqKm area to investigate and get a DTM.

There are some articles showing very good results in DTM generation with those photos.

Placing GCPs is not a problem, but if PS pro does not align the images, then our University will waste a lot of money!

Is there anyone that already worked in such a scenario, please let me know or PM me.

Thanks and kind regards,

MC

Hello,

I want to import a local datum transformation base on Molodenskii 7 parameters as follows.
Then i want to use standard Transverse Mercator as projection.

Is there any quick tool to create a PRJ file that is fully compatible with PS Pro format? Is there any template that i can use for this scope?

Thanks and regards

Feature Requests / Orthomosaics and Export perimeters
« on: March 31, 2015, 12:07:18 PM »
Hello,

while we love the countless export options in PS Pro, the import side could be improved, in our opinion.

1) Import a working perimeter in SHP/DXF format. As University, we use PS mainly for aerial mapping, so cartography is available mainly in DXF/SHP format. It would be so much appreciated to have chance to import some DXF/SHP layers in PS Pro.

2) As mentioned above, we would greatly appreciate also to setup working perimeter in DXF/SHP format, instead of actual rectangular bounding box

3) Finally we would greatly appreciate also to have DEM/Orthmosaics Export Perimeter perimeter in DXF/SHP format. This would greatly improve our work, save a lot of time in trimming/cutting images border in post-processing.

Thanks and kind regards

Feature Requests / Edit Circle
« on: March 31, 2015, 11:56:50 AM »
Hello,

similarly to many other users, we think to have quite good hardware and GPU, but resources are never enough when managing dense point clouds or classes in aerial mapping.

From other software, we find extremely useful to implement an "Edit Circle" (with radius user selected), that can be moved by double clicking on the cloud. For moving, i would suggest to use Arrows or WASD, like suggested by another user previously.

When "Edit Circle funtion" is ENABLED, only points inside the circle are shown and can be edited, that makes editing fast, easy, reliable and, what is more important, quick even with a laptop.

I am sure this implementation would be extremely appreciated, because sometimes (even with our Dual Xeon and Dual ATI GPU configuration), the dense point clould cannot be managed because computer hangs and even deleting a few points becomes a 15 minutes operation.

General / Workflow question: 2 cameras
« on: October 25, 2014, 01:07:32 PM »
hello,

- I have an aerial project where i used 2 different UAVs with 2 different cameras. So i have dataset of pcitures for camera1 and dataset for camera2. since cameras are different, also calibration file are to be applied separately.

- I also have collected a good number of precise GCPs well-spread inside the survey area.

Question is: what is best workflow to use to process these dataset and obtain 1 complete dense-cloud + orthomosaics?

I notice the following problems:

1) For each chunk of pictures, i can only apply 1 calibration file, so i need to create 1 chunk for each camera. In my case, i need to create 2 chunks and apply calibration.

2) If i align the 2 chunks separately, how do i merge chunks? It looks like merge-chunk command is available only after dense-cloud has been created. This means that GCPs are to be applied for each chunk, that is bad because GCPs distribution has been studied to be well-spread for the entire area, and not for 2 single chunks. In the outer areas of each chunk, this would cause BIG errors because GCPs are not as dense as required to have good accuracy

Does anyone know a good workflow to obtain a good result?

Kind regards,

moh

General / export Point classes
« on: July 12, 2014, 09:33:47 AM »
Hello,

is it possible to export an image with point classes (after Dense Cloud Classification has been executed) as a GeoTIFF?

It would be extremely useful to use as overlay layer in a GIS to check if classification was ok, compare with other orthomosaics etc.

Regards,

Moh

General / Re: Problem with Dense Cloud Classification
« on: June 23, 2014, 03:56:44 PM »
Hello 3DFranz and thanks a lot for your interest.

I would also appreciate some extra information about the parameters you suggest in the scenario i described = think crop field as tall as 1.5m with some trenches inbetween.
You suggest H=0.5, but what cell size? and Angle?

And at last: howto reset the dense cloud classification? I cannot see a reset button or anything related with classes in the project.

Kind regards,

MoH
