General / Wrap - Topology Transfer Program
« on: April 01, 2014, 04:27:14 AM »
Not sure if the community has seen this tool or not, but looking pretty promising. It's called Wrap, here's the link and write-up:

What is Wrap?
Wrap is a topology transfer tool. It allows to utilize the topology you already have and transfer it onto your new 3D-scanned data. The resulting models will not only share the same topology and UV-coordinates but also will naturally become blendshapes of each other.

Hey All,

I am looking to sell off my original rig that consists of 30 Canon A1300's with extras. Right now we are listing them on eBay as individual purchases, but if anyone is interested in the whole lot (30) plus our custom built trigger system please PM and we can discuss costs.

eBay Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-PowerShot-A1300-16-0-MP-Digital-Camera-Power-Adapter-4GB-Card-USB-/301118866982

Also, I have attached a raw scan from the 30 A1300's rig.

Thanks for looking!

Face and Body Scanning / Photoscan Used for Soda Shaq Basketball Game
« on: February 01, 2014, 08:33:34 PM »
Hey Guys.

A couple of months ago we had the opportunity to do a scan session with Shaquille O'Neal for an augmented reality mobile game called Soda Shaq Basketball. For the project we constructed a fairly inexpensive and mobile capture rig of 30 Canon A1300 cameras (running CHDK) and built a custom trigger system for it.  While the cameras did have trouble with his bald head, we brought a black/white tie-dye bandanna for him to wear to help with the alignment. However, for the cost and what it was ultimately being used for (mobile game) it was just the quality we needed to get the job done.

One again, big thanks to Agisoft for making such a wonderful and easy to use program. I know you hear it a lot...but you guys rock! 8)

Here's a link to a YouTube making of video (featuring me....yay)

Face and Body Scanning / How much light is needed?
« on: December 17, 2013, 11:14:21 PM »
Hey Guys,

I have been doing some experiments with two studio flashes (360w) to illuminate face captures. However, I have been only able to capture at 1/8 shutter speed, with an ISO of 200 and an aperture of 13 (to minimize DOF). My question is, how are some capturing at 1/10,000?! Even with 1/1000 I have a close to black image, how much light is actually being fired into to the scene for illumination? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  ;D

Thanks,
Corey
