General / Sections??
« on: June 08, 2023, 11:58:57 AM »
I am new to Metashape, and I have done some searching but haven't found anything. I would like to create sections of my objects and then generate orthophotos from them. Is there any way or tutorial available? I only found tutorials for creating facades using the 3 markers method, but nothing specifically for creating sections. I have attached example of the objects I want to cut and create sections from.

I apologize if this question has been answered before.

Thank you.

General / Best drone for archaeological/architectural/cultural survey?
« on: September 07, 2021, 03:11:35 PM »
Hello,
I am gonna buy my first drone for my archaeological/architectural/cultural projects.
My budget will be around 2000$ but maybe could manage to rise it up to 4000$ (including extras like batteries/bags etc).
My current project, and the reason I am buying the drone, is a series of really small abandoned settlement sites (around 1 acre each) in a windy island.
Apart from this I intent in using it for documenting/measuring archaeological sites.

Thank you

General / Two newbie quick questions
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:03:43 AM »
Hello,
I am new to photoscan so, please excuse my questions.

I am using photoscan to create 3d models of archaeological findings. I am currently testing it on the field and this time i don't have any topographical instrument (like a total station) in order correlate the measurements.

I was wondering two things:

I want to use photoscan on a wall. Can i create or define a level (that level will be the facade of the wall) and then can i export that level as an image?

The way that i work now is by exporting the object as 3d pdf and then to rotate it and approximately bring it to the proper position in order to see the wall vertical. Then i print screen that position and use the image as a background.

Is there a better way to do this?

Thank you very much

General / measure drawing?
« on: August 20, 2013, 08:22:25 AM »
Hello, i have just purchased photoscan standard edition, so i am quite new to the program. I followed some basic tutorials and i have a question.

Working as an architect it would great if i could use photoscan to help me to my architectural measure drawings. The thing that i want is after i take the 3d model from photoscan to put it in a program (for ex autocad) and take some measurments on it and after that to create some sections etc.
Is that possible?

Thank you
