General / Processing Ultra Large Format Imagery (250 MegaPixel Images)
« on: August 07, 2018, 02:47:35 AM »
I have approximate 300 ultra high-resolution images with 60% forward and sidelap. The imagery has a 5cm resolution and I have processed it at 100% UltraFine settings, however the output quality is low. Many objects do not appear in the final point cloud that are larger than 5cm, which makes me think the software doesn't handle these images properly.

One image resolution is approximately 11000 pixels by 12000 pixels.

Any ideas?

General / Multiple cameras of the same type, one camera calibration?
« on: March 08, 2018, 06:54:24 PM »
I am very interested in building a custom rig using multiple action cameras (Sony RX0). I will be firing the cameras at the same time, my question is how does Agisoft handle the different lens calibrations? Does Agisoft recognize the different cameras and compute a separate calibration parameter, or are cameras with the same lens all get combined?
thanks,

Feature Requests / 3D cursor
« on: February 03, 2018, 08:22:58 AM »
When you enable 3D viewing the cursor is still in 2D. Please add depth to the cursor so we may work in 3d and perform better selections and editing.

Feature Requests / Horizontal and vertical accuracy components
« on: February 03, 2018, 08:05:51 AM »
Please separate the vertical and horizontal components when assigning accuracies. A single accuracy value is not logical, the H and V components in GPS measurements have very different expectations of reliability.

General / View project history while processing in progress?
« on: March 10, 2017, 12:17:53 AM »
I have a project that has been processing for 80 hours and today it occurred to me that I may have never done a HIGH quality image alignment. I know I did the LOWEST and then generated a mesh, my fear is that I never ran the HIGHEST image alignment after that. It is currently trying to compute a dense cloud, but without a highest alignement.. I should probably just press stop now.

Is there a way to view, inside the project saved location, looking at the project file or any of the including zip files and XMLs to see what I did actually do?

Thanks,

Feature Requests / Project history summary
« on: March 28, 2016, 10:15:21 PM »
Sometimes you start a project and do not finish it, you save results and come back to it later. Then you wonder, what setting was this used to align with? Is this a high density point cloud, or ultra high? The processing history of the project should be view-able in some way.

Feature Requests / Export DATEM Summit Evolution projects
« on: February 22, 2016, 04:33:25 AM »
We currently use professional photogrammetric compilation software called DATEM Summit Evolution:

http://www.datem.com/summit-evolution/

I know the company offers it's project writing library to developers (such as Agisoft) to allow your software to directly export out camera calibrations, exterior orientations, and create compatible projects for their software.

If necessary I can facilitate this, I talk with DATEM pretty often and would love to see this export option added to your software.

Any interest in adding this export?

General / Automatic size?
« on: February 27, 2015, 05:21:09 AM »
Let's say I'm taking a lot of photographs of different size objects to process in photoscan and I want to know the relative size of each model, so that it is scaled realistically. What I'm wanting to do, is print a sheet of paper, with two markers in it that are a fixed distance a part. These markers will have a known coordinates.. so if the  two GCP are 5cm apart, the markers will have coordinates of 0,0 and 0,0.5. I want to be able to automate this, so that every model gets a realistic size but I'm not having to identify GCPs every time and load coordinates and all those steps.

Would this be doable if given enough effort with the python scripting? Is functionality already here but I'm unaware of it?

We are photographing relative flat objects and the size of the reference markers would be comparable to the object size.
Thanks!

General / Camera calibration parameters
« on: November 08, 2013, 06:02:38 AM »
I'm using DAT/EM Summit Evolution and attempting to use the camera calibration values provided by agisoft. The problem is that the options for inputting the values don't match the formats (or naming conventions?) of agisoft. Can you look at these input options and tell me how values like fx, fy, cx, cy relate to the DATEM inputs?

Thanks in advance!

General / Radeon 7970 3GB or 6GB?
« on: May 26, 2013, 05:38:48 AM »
I see there are two versions of this card out, one with 3GB of vram and the other with 6GB. I know there's a thread discussing the performance of this card, but I was wondering if you guys have recommendations or experience with them? About $100 separates one from the other, seems like good value for the money.. I can imagine the higher ram is better for agisoft but can someone confirm this?

Any advice would be appreciated, ready to upgrade ASAP.
Thanks,

General / Video card suggestions
« on: May 13, 2013, 07:49:30 PM »
I have a 1 year old quad core i7 desktop with 16GB of ram and a radeon hd 5700 series GPU. In general computing this machine does great, but when I open a photoscan model a 20-million faces... this thing just jokes and get very unresponsive. Would a newer video card, perhaps a higher end $1000 video card make a large difference? Any recommendation on a new GPU?

I guess my real question is where would I get the most bang for my buck to get a machine that would allow me to work with massive data sets more effectively.. cuz right now I can't do a darn thing.
Thanks!

Feature Requests / RAM estimation
« on: January 26, 2013, 10:00:50 PM »
95% of the time when I'm crunching data, after several hours, the program throws the "not enough memory error." Nothing more frustrating than hitting the limit after hours and hours of machine time that results in nothing.

I have to think, once the images are loaded and points are identified but BEFORE the mesh starts, you could estimate the amount of RAM required to finish the project. Is there any way for you to build an application that does this?

General / Aerial imaging systems
« on: July 30, 2012, 05:01:19 PM »
I'm interested to see what equipment everyone is using to collect aerial photography. I've used everything from full size planes, to RC copters, to even balloon.. but now I'm considering a mulicopter for improved planning and collection technique.

What are you guys using? Any recommendations on where to buy a system?

Feature Requests / Batch merge chunks in stages
« on: November 21, 2011, 04:50:36 PM »
There are times when I try to merge all chunks in 1 step, it fails due to 'not enough memory' error. However, if I stage the merge so that I join chunks 1 and 2 to create chunk 6, then merge chunk 3 and 6 to form 7, then merge chunk 4 and 7 to create 8.. etc, I have sufficient memory.

This is a slow process and one that would be much improved by adding a "Batch join by stages" option to the batch process dialogue.
Thanks.

Feature Requests / Blank texture areas
« on: November 21, 2011, 08:01:24 AM »
Currently, when the program generates a texture for a model, if there is no image to supply texture to a surface area, it creates that segment as being black. This is terribly unattractive and unnecessary. It would be better for the program to makes these areas less noticeable so that the data product appears better and more complete.

If the program would simply generate the texture based on the model displayed after geometry is is constructed, these voids would be less noticeable.
